Congrats! :o)

You need to be a little clearer on what you mean.

If you are spotting then it might not be your period after all, it could be ovulation spotting, you could have cut yourself or any number of other things. If it is your period then it may get heavier over the next few days.

Also I'm not sure what you mean by gooy stuff - do you mean discharge? That is normal, you have that all through your menstrual cycle, it is how your vagina cleans itself out, you also get cervical mucus when you are fertile (a few days before ovulation). During your period you get this discharge too, you also get blood and larger pieces of your uterus coming out of your vagina.

If it is your period it's a little late to prepare, but here are some suggestions;

1. Decided how you want to celebrate, let your folks know what you want to do like maybe buy something new, a night doing somehting fun like a girly sleep-over. If worried about telling your folks then get another girl to tell them for you, or write a note to let them know and tell them if you need anything or if you want to talk to them about it.

2. Keep a bag with you containing pads or a menstrual cup, also keep in there a spare change of underwear, bags to throw your used pads away in, clary sage to help if you get cramps, etc.

3. Make note of your period days on a calandar, if you don't already have one of your own then ask for one to keep in a draw in your room or go to an online site like mymonthlycycles.com

4. Learn all you can, your folks should have told you all this a long long time ago, but as they haven't look around online for information about periods. There is a really good sexual health web site called Scarleteen with a good article explaining your periods you should check out - http://www.scarleteen.com/article/body/o...

5. Learn about all your different menstrual options, there are lots of things you can use on your periods and you need to learn about them all so you know what you want to use. For now you may want to use pads (try cloth pads like Lunapads, they're more comfortable), when you are older you may want to try using something internal like a menstrual cup such as a Divacup, as tampons are unsafe and dirty where as menstrual cups are cleaner, safe and easier to use than tampons. It's a lot more mature to be responsible by caring for your health in using pads or menstrual cups rather than risking some of the other options.

6. Find out how to prevent cramps, no one has to suffer from cramps, PMS, etc. so learn how to avoid or at very least on how to deal with them if you do get them until you know enough to stop them all together. Clary sage is a good way to ease off period pains, much better than painkillers, but simple changes to your diet and good health will prevent cramps and similar problems all together, it's just a case of learning about these things and seeing what works for you.

7. Most important thing to ever know about your periods;
Periods are only as good or as bad as YOU make them.
If you have a good attitude by ignoring brainwashing within society and media telling you periods are bad, dirty or embarrising, they aren't any of those things. You learn all you can and recognise periods are good things and you'll enjoy your periods rather than hate them like some silly girls.

What's wrong with having it at school?
You'll always have periods when at school, work, all sorts of places, having your period makes no difference at all to how you live your life. If worried about leaking at school just make sure to always keep some spare pads with you or wear a menstrual cup, worse case you can always just wrap toilet paper around your underwear until you can get home, or ask another girl or teacher for help. No one will know you have your period unless you tell them, don't worry.

what i do is wear a tampon to school just incase. also, carry one around with you just incase. (or a pad) whichever one you perfer

Where is mom? ASK HER

ok ok ok relax!!!!!!!! just cause you have gooey stuff doesnt mean your period is coming right away it justs mean that it is on its way. and what the heck is spotin? amd there is nothing to prepair for just keep a purse with you that has pads in it and maybe some spare undys. and you will be fine it is totally normal to be nervous and it happens to every girl. so maybe you should talk to your mom about it.

Stop panicking for a start! Everyone goes through it. Just take spare knickers and pads to school with you in your bag. But if you're already spotting i'd put a pad on now, just incase it gets heavier. I wouldn't try and use tampons if you're just starting your period, if you want to use them wait till you're a bit more used to it.

Wear pads for sure so you don't have an embarrassing issue.Ask the school nurse for an extra supply or any other help. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah man dont wear tampons if you're just starting.

When you start spotting, put on a pad, cuz it'll get heavier when you're at school.. ugh it always does. Anyways and to avoid embarrassing situations change it like 4-6 hours or so when you've got a heavy flow.

Write the date down when you start just in case so you know when you're gonna have your period next.

When you put on a new pad at home wash yourself there to feel clean.

Mk, =] congrats.

bring pads to school and ask you mom!! its ok:] you'll be fine. just wear a sweat shirt so you can cover it up if it leaks through. you'll be fine!!
