Have you ever used a birth control shot?!
Question: i had never heard about them until now, and all the research says that they're cheaper, easier, and more reliable then pills. so what's the catch? or are most people just afraid of shots?

The catch with the shot is you don't know how your body will respond to it until you get it. So if you respond poorly to the shot you have to wait it out unlike the pill you could just stop taking it.
I had the shot for 4 years. I had weight gain, low sex drive and no periods. It was good for me at the time. Except for the low sex drive part....that wasn't very good.
some pills are just as reliable as the shots. Beware, the shots and most BC causes weight gain.
I had one before. I don't think there's any catch. With any birth control (including pills) you can gain weight. It worked fine for me.
i got the shot on dec. 4th i was told you get it every 3months i bleed like i was on my period the whole 3months and had bad side effects gained a litle weight i hated it i never got preg during the time period some people don't bleed i guess i did .
i never went back for the 2nd shot and stoped bleeding a few days ago cuz the shot finally wore off
if you get it get ready for heavy bleeding i wouldn't recommend it 2 anyone.
I got it once. I bled straight for 3 months! Never again. Also I was in such a horrible bad mood and just snappy with everybody. I couldn't deal with it. It was like take the worst pms ever and multiply it by ten.
The catch is the horrible health issues most women have on the shot (called depo provera) as well as the horrible side affects while on it.

They are as effective as pills, at 99%. Women can and do get pregnant on depo provera.
