hi there
i too have pcos, and find it hard to lose weight.
the only things i have found that work (but i find them hard to stay on) are diabetic diets and low carb/no carb diets.
i find these hard because i can not have artificial sweeteners (except splenda, and thats not in alot of stuff yet), and i get what i call, "carb headaches". ones i get that only go away when i eat something with sugar or that is higher in carbs...i think its also withdrawl symptoms to the addictions to carbs.
its hard but is something i am going to try again, because if you can keep it up it will help with the weight loss and keeping it off.
but do things in small steps.
my first thing i stopped doing was drinking pop, was my hardest addiction to break but i did it.
i also found that eating 6 small meals a day works well, if you are consistant at eating every 2-3 hours, and staying on that schedule.
its alot easier said than done, but if you are determined and put your mind to it, i'm sure you can be successful.
also start doing extra excersize, find a walking budy who is free when you are to go walking with. that might help too.
hope this helps!

I couldn't lose weight, and keep it off with PCOS on my own. I wasn't strong willed enough, no matter how hard I tried my weight loss would come back plus more. 97% of diets fail, and I was one of those failed dieters. I ended up getting lap-band surgery 5 months ago. I'm down 70 lbs. and I'm still going. Best of luck! Hopefully, you'll have a better outcome than me.

if u are old enuff, try weight watchers, if not, try healthy breakfasts (skipping brekky wont help!!) if you have a pet, like a dog, dont refuse taking it out for a walk, it will do you good. or you can ask elders or other local people to walk theirs for them to burn some calories, they may even give u a few pennies.! wrap your tummy tightly with clingfilm for a day... nt sure what it does, but something happens. go for a short jog in the morning. pick up a sport. i did. i do swimmin, badminton, hockey, runnin, netball and tennis. give it a go

hope this helps x

There are certain diets that prove to be very helpful for women who suffer from PCOS - it is a low carb diet- but not the "eat all the bacon you can" type a more moderate approach. As a health counselor I help people design a healthy lifestyle that works for them, then support them as they make lasting changes to improve their lives. Come by and check out my website.

I find that the best way to lose weight is exercise regularly and to limit carbs. I saw my greatest weight loss when I was exercising five times a week and eating a low-fat, low-carb diet.

I also have PCOS and when I lost the weight, my periods became regular. My moods were not affected by the weight loss, however.

I would also like to recommend a good resource for you: Pcos: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome : The Hidden Epidemic by Samuel Thatcher, MD. There are also good support websites, such as SoulCysters.net. I found both of these very informative and they made me feel better about having PCOS.

Good luck to you!

i was diagnosed with pcos a few years ago and my first doctor didn't seem to see the importance of telling me how detrimental it was to my condition to lose weight..so i went to another doctor and immediately she advised me to lose weight..i started with weight watchers which was amazing...then i strayed away from that and started my own high fiber, fruit, veggies and whole grains diet with exercise three times a week.. which has been great..i am now in my weight range...my acne has subsided for the most part except occasionally when i do get my period..

most importantly though, if you are going to start with anything..dont get drastic..start with cutting out soda..then cut out white breads, white bagels, white pastas..as soon as white flour enters your body it immediately is processed into sugar, which seems to be a large part of the problem with pcos sufferers.. take things slowly and if you feel overwhelmed, back off on something a little big and dont get discouraged.. :) itll happen for you..

ps- there are many pcos support groups and websites online..also, many of them on myspace..

Go for prnayamas specially, Kapal-Bhati and Anulom-Vilom

Consult a homeopath. You need constitutional treatment and homeopathy has got guaranteed remedy for your problem. I have seen a doctor curing several such cases.
