Sweetheart, I know exactly where you are coming from. I was anxious and nervous about that at your age. I started getting symptoms of it (pubic hair and discharge and pain in my lower abdomen) when i was in fourth grade. But i didnt get my period until I was 12 in seventh grade. I remember that day when i had to go to the bathroom and i saw blood in my underwear. I was scared, but at the same time, I was prepared. For about two months before, I could tell somehow that it was coming. It really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. I have a medium flow and it normally only last for about 4-5 days so I'm lucky. I know some of my friends get such bad cramps that they can't get out of bed and can't even go to school. I am blessed to be able to take an advil and be totally fine. But when you get it, don't panic. That will just make it worse. Every girl in the world gets it and there is nothing you can do about it. I have actually learned to like it. Well, not exactly. Just sometimes when I don't want to do something or go somewhere, i just say "It's that time of the month." haha. You can email me if you have any other concerns.

i got mine in 7th grade when i was 12.
i think thats the normal age.
it was a big suprise but at least i was at home when it happened.... the worst thing was tht there were no pads in the house and i had to use a tampon. i didnt kno how to use it, and i didnt do it right so it hurt. dont use tampons till at least 5 months after ur first period.
im on birth control now, so i only have my pd for 3-5 days instead of 5-9. : )
I got it on my 13th birthday. I felt happy for getting my period for the first time.
My mom and I had talked about it since I was 9 until I was 13 and I was looking forward to getting it because I was finally starting to grow into a woman.
Im 14 and I still dont have mine.
And Im happy! I dont want to have to deal with all of that crap!

I was 14 in 8th grade. Well this year.
i was in 5th grade & was 11. I was at school and i went to the bathroom and realized what had happened. I was like omg and then i went back to my classroom and told my teacher i had to go to the nurse and she asked why and i told her and she gave me a hug and i was like why would i get a hug for this?? i didn't really start getting cramps and moody right away, not until i was in middle school. it was more kind of just like blood coming out of me and nothing else. My doctor told me i most likely got it so early since i drank about 3-4 gallons of milk a week and it was due to all the added hormones in it.
