First of all, your nurse totally and completely lied. You are never too young to use tampons. You could try a cup (http://www.divacup.com/) or you could try really small tampons for younger girls such as Playtex Sport, Tampax Pearl, or Playtex Gentle Glide. I used to use the Playtex Sports, but I tried the o.b. ones and nothing else compares to their comfort. (http://www.obtampons.com/) For more information about tampons, go to~

Hope these help! If you have any more questions feel free to email me at erwheeler@sbcglobal.net or cheepmunc@yahoo.com. If you want, you could IM me on either of those accounts as well, whichever one I'm on at the time.

P.S.
You could also try the deodorant pads or whatever, but a lot of girls find them irritating or are allergic to them, like me.

P.P.S.
If you change your pad every two hours at least, you should get a pad with a higher absorbency. If you're at the highest absorbency in that brand get an overnight pad. For more pad stuff, check out http://www.always.com/

P.P.P.S.
For more help with the odor, you could also wash more "down there" when you're in the shower. Wear nice smelling perfume, or, well, you get the idea.

u can wear tampons it doent matter how old u are and u could like wash down in that area when u take a shower.it might help otherwise idk

umm you can get sented pads

this is hard for all of us. just wear a good smelling perfume. keep urself clean and change ur pads

you should probably listen to your doctor but you could also try a smaller tampon and read the directions carefully. i had trouble the first time putting it in as well what you do is lean forward with your legs far apart put in in your vigina and push towards your lower back. it may feel uncomfortable putting it in but it shouldnt hurt all that much so if it does i would recommend just listening to your doctor. also about the odor . Get wipes like sanitar safe for the skin wipes use them instead of toliet paper and get a small bottle of purfume not too strong and spay it on your pants once your done using the bathrrom like when your all dressed and just spray it right on your croch it should work

i hope this helped :]]

You should not wear tampons. But you should were scented pads and buy wipes to clean yourself when you go change your pad -always wipe

if you tried a tampon and it hurt you werent putting it in the right place
buy decent tampons and read directions carefully.

i hate pads too! and i can empathise with your situation. If your friend already knew you were on your period, then she could have been saying it to make herself feel better by making you less confident.

As soon as you start your period, you are ready to use tampons. I was a bit nervous at first, but now it's so worth it.
Here's what you should do:

1. Find a time when you will not be disturbed, go into the bathroom and lock the door.
2. Get out the tampons, and make sure you have at least 5, just in case
3. read the instructions over and make sure you understand them
4. sit somewhere comfortable, even the floor, and try to put one in, following the instructions
5. if it doesn't work, dont panic, just take it out and try again with a new one.
6. go slowly, and make sure you push it in as far as you can, when i first tried, i only pushed it in 3/4 of the way and it was a bit uncomfy.

good luck, and always use applicator tampons- they're much better.

i know what you mean about pads - wearing them can sometimes make you feel self-conscious. this may seem obvious, but it really does help! make sure you thoroughly shower and bathe every day - not only will it help rid you of any odors, but it'll make you feel better!

you can try the scented or deodorizing pads, though some women tend to find them itchy or have allergic reactions to them. and, personally, i'd be wary of anything scented near my lady parts. ;D

and if you're menstruating, you aren't too young for a tampon ( some cases may be different! ) if you want to try using one again, do a little research. there are tons of sites to help you. it is important to know how a tampon works first and all the parts of it. buy a few and see what they look like. tampons come with directions to help you along, so keep the paper handy when you need it. :]]

inserting one may feel a little awkward the first time, but it shouldn't hurt. if it does, don't try to force it! just stop and take some time to relax - if you're nervous your muscles will clench, making insertion even harder. if it still hurts, it could be the shape of your hymen, in which case it's best to consult a doctor or wait until the hymen breaks, either naturally or through intercourse (though the hymen is very fragile and may break with even exercise).

i recommend plastic applicators. they're much more smooth and comfortable than the cardboard ones and should make inserting way easier. also, try a lighter absorbency until you find the one that suits your flow. removing a tampon before it's saturated can hurt because you're trying to pull out dry cotton, which can irritate your vagina - it's not fun!

if you're new to your period or not quite comfortable with your body, i don't recommend using a cup just yet because you need to be comfortable with sticking your fingers in your vagina to insert and remove the cup. but once you're ready, it is a great alternative to traditional methods. :]]
