It's probably from the sex. Urinating right afterward can help, as can washing up with a gentle soap and water before you get started. I know, romantic, huh? "Excuse me honey, I need to wash up with mild soap. I'll be right back." Sort of a mood-killer, but it does help. Some people say missionary position increases the chances of UTIs,, some people say it doesn't make a difference. You can take cranberry tablets to try to prevent the UTIs--sometimes those help. The cranberry stops the bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract:

Also, make sure your pee is testing positive each time--I have interstitial cystitis which is a chronic condition that feels like I have a UTI all the time. It's not likely you have it but just to be sure...

Edit: I just rememberd that a man can pass a yeast infection back to you. He can get it from you and keep giving it back. He may need a test.

I would say that it's not a coincidence......do you urinate afterwards?

No it's not coincidence your bf needs to take medication for it as he keep passing the bacteria back to you even if he has no symptoms. This happened to me after our honeymoon that's why it's called honeymoon cystitis, my gyn prescribed the same medication for my husband to take. The orange color of his urine sure freaked him out, I forgot to tell him that would happen. But it cleared up the problem for both of us. Ask your gyn.

some women get cystitis frequently and some women dont its just depends on the way your body is made. urinating after sex will flush out any bacteria that has made its way up there during sexual activity, and it is recommended that everyone do that. there could however, be a more serious urinary tract infection which is failing to clear higher up in your kidneys or ureters, you should check out this possibility. you could also check out the links that cranberry juice has in protecting your urinary tract (ive given you a link).
