Menstrual cramps for over a week...?!

Question: I've been having cramps for over a week now, and should have started my period last week; however, this has not been the case. I'm 21 years old and absolutely NOT pregnant (I'm still a virgin). My only guess is that my period is going to be skipped this month, and for what reason I am unsure. I've had something similar to this happen once before a couple of years ago, and I skipped my period completely for that month. Have no idea why though.

Anyway, when my periods do come (on the first day), the cramps are so unbearable. There isn't an over the counter medicine in the world that can subside the pain, it's terrible. I don't know if it's normal or not.

Kind of off topic though, the main question is regarding a whole week of cramps, but no period. And honestly, I don't think it's going to come anytime soon, I'm suspecting I'll skip this month. Is something wrong?

This happens to me all the time. I'm 20 and a virgin as well... but I'll have cramps for about a week and a half before I'm supposed to start and then not start for that week. I went to my ob/gyn and she said that it's completely normal for a few times, but once it gets over 3 or 4 then something could be seriously wrong and you should get checked out.
