Which one is better?!

Question: Ok, so last month I had a UTI and it was treated with Macrobid (since it worked before). But although I had previously used it a few months before for another UTI (no, I don't have any bladder probs, just bad luck I guess lol), this time it "didn't feel right" as I told my mom on the very last day of taking it which was a month ago. This time it kind of caught up with me, and now I have another UTI in its beginning stages. I went to the doctor and told him about this dilemma and he prescribed me Augmentin. He told me that it's a penicillin-based drug. I know I'm not allergic to penicillin, but which antibiotic is better?

It's hard to say one antibiotic is "better" than another. Different families of drugs work different ways, so what's effective for one kind of bacteria might not touch another. If you get a strain that's resistant to one drug, they'll try other drugs that work different ways and avoid the resistance.

Neither is "better" just "different". If that doesn't work, next time ask for Bactrim DS or Ciprofloxacin. Cipro is the strongest stuff they can prescribe you, and it kills everything.

?? I took Cipro and it worked.
