My period is late, but I'm not pregnant?!
Question: My period is about 5 days late now. I took a home pregnancy test today, and it was negative, which is not really a surprise because my fiance is on deployment, so I haven't had sex since the last period I had which was a day or two after he left, and it was a normal period. Everything I am reading online says that you skip periods due to extremes... well I have not been "extremely" stressed, yes a little bit about my fiance's deployment, but he isn't anywhere dangerous, and I have been under more stress than this at other times in my life. I have not had any weight loss or gain, and I haven't had any big changes in my life at all. I just can't figure out why my period would be late like this because I am 23 and it has pretty much always been regular. So question number one is: why won't my period start? Question number two is: how long should I wait for my period to start before I see a gyn, or is that even necessary?

When that happened to me the gyno told me its normal. She said sometimes your body doesn't have enough to clean out so you won't get your period. So as the next month came and i got it. So maybe you just want to call the nurse at the gyno and ask for a little piece of mind.

Your period will change several times throughout your child bearing years. I believe its 3 months of a missed periods before you go see a doctor if no other symptoms arise.
Well, I do know that you can have your period for a few months after you get pregnant. And maybe you are and the test just didn't pick up the HCG hormones. I would go to the ob if it didn't start in the next month.
