Girls only!!! telling your mum about your period :$?!

Question: I was just wondering what to say, because I started my period today, and I think my mum will be a little suspicious if I give my underwear to her and there's blood in there ;]. So, can you please tell me how you told your mum and what she said and did please. This would help so much you don't actually understand. Oh, and I never told my mum about my discharge so I haven't been using pantyliners so my mum thinks that I haven't even started discharge yet :$

The best approach is probably just to be direct. My mom got excited when i told her about mine. She said i was "becomming a woman". Go to beinggirl.com for info on femminine supplies

tell her straight out

Hun, having your period is a normal female function. Your mom has one as well. Just tell her. She should have already given you "the talk" so it should be no surprise to her.

I didn't tell my mom about discharge..because it's no big deal.

But when it came to my period, I just said, "Mom...I started my period."

It's that simple. Just say it! :) Good luck.

i just told her

Just tell her: Mom, i got my period"...

Just come straight out and tell her.
She will more than likely be glad you told her.
Good Luck!

Just tell her, it won't be a big surprise, she is a woman, too you know.

Please don't just hand her your underwear with blood on it!
Just tell her...she's a woman and she's been there...she'll understand! It's a part of life!

just go to her sit with her , with no one around and tell her it is normal :P

Just smile and honestly tell her. She has been in your shoes before, when she was younger. Congrats

just tell her dont be scared moms know what to tell you okay

she will be happy and you should just go in and tell her...'mom, today i became a woman...and there is nothing either of us can do about it...so unless you want me staining the carpet...i may need som supplies..'

your mom went through it too. just tell her. i just went up to my mom and said hey mom i started my period today. is there anything to make it easier? and she told me about what to expect and everything. mom's understand. =D

we were driving across country & stopped @ a truck stop to pee. i had to yell out the door for my mom to please come in there & told her I needed something ...
just tell her ... mom, i started my period.

just tell her and don't be shy or emberassed..we all got it and so did our moms. She will probrobly talk to you and go buy you some sanitary items... It's not a bad thing your becoming a women.

Just tell her straight in a grown up and matter of fact way. She will probably be upset if she thinks you are too embarrassed to tell her. I know how you feel, I remember having to psyche myself up to tell my mum.

There is no other way than to just straight out say, Mom I started my period today, I need some pads , liners ect...
There is nothing to be shy about this is a very natural event in a young girls life, be happy that you are becoming a young lady.

when i first had my period i was really nervous but i just said, mum, i think i had my period. she was very supportive and just gave a me a pad and told me everything to do. dotn worry and good luckk!

It's a funny moment when you get your first period. You can feel a bunch of different emotions. Some girls might be thrilled that the longed-for period has finally arrived. Others might be a little weirded out by the experience. And still other girls might take it completely in stride, deal with it, and go on like nothing happened. Whichever girl you are, it's important to tell your mom. It'll be easier to get the supplies you need. Just remember that she was once your age, getting her first period, so she knows this territory well.

Just say it! Your mom's been through all this before too, and really, that's what mom's are for - to help with this stuff. She should set you up with what you need (pads, pantyliners, even tampons, although I waited a few years for those). It may feel weird or awkward to talk to someone about this, but it's a natural part of your body... you talked to us online about it easily enough!

She's probably expecting it! Just tell her straight out, "Mom, I got my period."

just tell her, its no big deal she has had her period for years. Periods are natural discussion topics with my girlfriends. seriously she will not be embarassed. Random women come up to me in public bathrooms asking if I have an extra tampon please and thankyou.

I remember i worried so much about this when i was younger!! When i eventually did start we were supposed to be going swimming and i told her i couldnt go so she guessed, which made it easier!

But i know how you feel, anyway if you feel to embarassed to tell her directly then you can right her a letter or tell an older sister or aunty? You dont need to feel embarassed about it because it is entirely natural and your mum will probably be expecting it soon as she will have noticed the other changes in your body.

If you really cant face telling her you could put a packet of pads or tampons in the basket when you go shopping with her as a hint, and she will soon get the message!

I hope this helps, xx

Just tell her straight out you got your period. Remember, she went through the same thing when she was a girl. She will understand more than you think. What's so hard about it? She is your MOM!

On my 13th birthday I told my mom I have my period. She was happy about it and showed me how to wear a pad. Easy.

Just go up to her and say mom I'm not sure but I think I am starting my period. If she asks you how you know about that stuff say you learned in Health class or a friend told you. Its nothing to worry about. Good Luck!

I was at my dads house. I text her saying "Mum i started my period" and she text back, telling me she would get me some things :)
It was pretty easy really :) x

Just tell her. She's been expecting it and she will be supportive, understanding, and likely excited. My mom was thrilled actually. I called her at work and told her becuase even though I was prepared, I was a little scared. She was so thrilled she left work early, bought me a present on the way home, and then we went out for dinner to celebrate my "womanhood." Fortunately it wasn't a big topic thereafter, but it was very easy to do. Just let her know so she can help you with supplies and answer any questions.

I WAS 10, AND I WOKE UP AND HAD IT. I CALLED HER OVER REALLY QUICK SO THAT SHE COULD SEE AND SHE GOT HAPPY. SHE CALLED ALL THE WOMEN IN THE FAMILY TO TELL THEM. ITS GOOD NICE, YOUR BEGINNING LIFE AS A YOUNG WOMEN. DONT BE SCARED, BE HAPPY AND SHE WILL TOO.

GOOD LUCK!

I just came straight out and told my mom (I was trying to get the blood out in the sink) and she was just like "ok, we'll need to get you what you need" so she took me shopping for the stuff i needed and she actually bought me a necklace as a way of her acknowledging i was growing up. but then of course she wanted to go and tell everyone in my extended family that the youngest granddaughter wasn't a little girl anymore...but that's another story...haha

but just tell your mom...she's been through all of it before!

what i did was left my mom a note on her dresser that said "mom,i started my period."then i left for school.when i got home my mom just whispered "if you need any help with anything, just tell me."i'm not gonna lie.it was pretty awkward and telling ur mom will be awkward too,but u will get through it and remember,ur only telling ur mom!not some stranger on the street!good luck!
