The shot and other types of birth control that allow you to go without a period for months at a time can do this. The uterine lining builds up and when it finally gets released, it can be very heavy. I skipped only one period (I just skipped the sugar pills and started a new pack) and my period lasted an unusually long time and I spotted for a week after.

I don't want to freak you out, but my aunt had her period for 2 months straight and had to get a historectamy. Although, that type of problem runs in my family and she was post menapausal. Just to be sure, I would call your doctor and maybe your mom for family references to this problem.

I was on Orthotricyclen, and it made my period all of the sudden last a month. Talk to your doctor and see if maybe you need a medication switch. Take a pregnancy test if you're worried about that.

sorry i a guy cant answer you but one of my friends wife is facing same problem she every month have periods for 28 days only 2 days off for them to make sex my friend was not happy with that but she is all normal not getting pregnant aswell may be she need sto go to the doctor
