Crohn's disease and my period?!


Question: Im 11 years old and got crohn's disease when i was 9 my mum was talking to the docter the other day and he said i wouldn't get my period untill i was like 15 but the other night i was in the shower and i saw blood going down the drain and now im very scared to tell any one and to find out if it was my period or not

Crohn's has nothing to do with your sexual organs. So it doesn't effect your period. I would tell your mom. Say something like "Mom, I've gotten my period" or "Mom, I've become a woman" Good luck :)

The first thing you should do is tell your Mum, because it sounds like it is your period.
Crohns disease affects your intestines and bowel, so it shouldn't have any impact on when you get your period. Your Mum should take you back to the doctor to make sure everythings O.K though. :)

The only reason it would affect your period is because of stunted growth from either the crohns or medicine such as prednisone. It could also be intestinal bleeding, but you can probably tell the difference because of where it is coming from. If it is your period i suggest telling your mum. You could just say do you have any sanitary products i could use.
