Adult adhd diagnosis 1 week ago..........?!

Question: I am 35 years old & had a life changing moment last week talking with the psychiatrist. Went over every psych test they have & I fit ADHD 100% back to elementary school through now 30's. I have been being treated for anxiety with no relief 15 years.

Doctor started me on 35 mg of Vyvanse. Felt the best I have felt since I can remember for 4 days & then it started wearing off, I got anxious & tired. Yesterday & today I have took the full dose of 70 mg & I get a horrible headache and got on edge and VERY irritable and fidgety & feel hot around 4 pm. take medicine @ 7 am.

I came home last night and took 2 mg of Xanax and 1 Ambien and still couldn't go to sleep until 1 am. I felt better as far as the anxiousness & the irritability but I woke up today in a total fog & in a horrible mood. I took the Vyvanse again this morning. Today, same symptoms around 4 & I took 1 Xanax today & 1/2 ambien when I got home & 30 mins later calm, not irritable, still not sleeping. What's up?

Your medicines over a long period may be as much the cause of your anxiety state .
In the U.S. and Europe you can buy Passiflora in many pharmacies and herbalists . Passiflora comes in capsule or liquid form , both are very effective for relaxing you and will not harm you like prescription drugs . I have used Passiflora occasionally over many years . Sometimes when I wake in the night , am bugged by all the unpleasant things I can think of .
When my wife and I were divorcing and I needed to remain calm . I find taking one or two capsules , or a few drops of liquid in some water ; within half an hour I am completely calm , or at night , evil thought have gone and I fall asleep quite naturally .
My second wife is currently menopausal and sometimes get very up tight loud and aggressive . Her doctor prescribed a drug that made her feel half dead , sleepy all day . Within a few days I persuaded her to try a Passiflora capsule in the morning ; another midday if she felt the need ; she has been fine since .
Do you live on your own ? Do you have any hobbies or activities . The lack of company and interests/activities might be a contributing factor .

I suggest you go to see a Naturopathic Doctor and get natural supplements instead of the chemicals that obviously don't agree with your mind and body.

You may have overdosed a bit on the vyvanse. and now your all hyped up from mixing the other medicines When you first start these add/adhd meds they may give you a boost or a high feeling but that is just a short lasting side effect of the medication, medicines such as these especially in adults only work about 50-70 % , the other help should be from a therapist who can help you sort things out and prioritize things better in your life. I was put on vyvanse 50 mg i never really found it to work for me, so the dr put me back on Adderall, which really helped for me, it's like vyvanse but it releases a lot quicker, but the downside is, that it dissipates faster then the vyvanse, so you usually have to take it 2-3 times a day, but i liked that a lot better because i got to control when and how much of the medicine i was taking each day, depending on how much i needed it.

Although sometimes when you have high amounts of anxiety, it can interfere with the add/adhd med, and the meds may not work too well, so make sure your anxiety is in check, so the vyvanse can work better for you.

If the medicine still isn't working you should talk to you psychiatrist about other medicine options, there are so many out there now days, Vyvanse is one of the newest ones, but there's also adderall xr, adderall, concerta, ritalin, strattera, so don't be down if this one doesn't work, there's always other options out there.

Good Luck!

I have the same answer as of the previous question.
