Need a Preganancy test to get treated in the ER?!
Question: Isn't that stupid? I went in the other day after waking up with no vision. I went to a children's hospital (Because I'm under 18) and they said it's the new state law to have on done to be treated if you are over 9 years old! How dumb is that?

Over 9 okay I can see if your 14 or something (I do not think 14 year olds should be having sex) but what 9 year is having sex
Not dumb at all. You'd be surprized at how many girls are having sex these days (yes, even 9 year olds). It's important to have a pregnancy test done at the hospital to insure that the medications they give you won't harm a fetus.
wow really, what state do you live in? It's not so dumb, im sure alot of conditions are pregnancy related and they probly want to be sure not to do anything you wouldnt want done if you would have known you were pregnant, even though the mothers life always comes first.
That's really weird and lame. But, it is kind of reasonable incase you are pregnant and so they don't kill the baby with medication they give you.
Not dumb at all. People are getting pregnant at much younger ages than they used to. Even the person doesn't know they are pregnant they still can be.
The reason they do that is because if you happen to be pregnant some of the treatments they give you could potentially harm the baby. It better to be safe than sorry isn't it. It take a short amount of time to do the test and hurts no one.
Sure it may be an inconvenience, but there is obviously a reason why it is being done otherwise it wouldnt have become a state law.
