What happens if you let a yeast infection go w/o treatment?!

Question: Ok, My mom just called me and is worried b/c my sister ALWAYS has a yeast infection. The thing is she doesn't treat them at all. My mom is worried that if she just keeps ignoring it and lets it continue she will ruin her insides or create a really bad infection.

I'm not looking for some dumb answer, my poor mom is really worried and wants some info to try and get her to get med. for it. Thanks

Okay ... it is time for me to add to the "gross" category of remedies that work and are good for you, but you guys out there might want to close your eyes and cover your ears. Or, if you are brave, share these remedies who might be having the problem.

This home remedy is for vaginal yeast infections.

1. Go to the store and buy a small carton of "plain" yogurt -- doesn't matter whether it is name brand or store brand or is nonfat, lowfat or wholefat because you are NOT going to eat it. But make sure it is PLAIN with NO fruit, NO added sugar (milk sugar listed on the carton doesn't count of course), and NO flavoring in it of ANY type. You should make sure that whatever type yogurt you buy has "ACTIVE CULTURES" listed on its container.

2. While you're at the store pick up a box of tampons to go with the yogurt.

3. Pay for them. No one will look at you weird and no one will ask for any ID. ( this #3 is a humorous point only, so laugh .... but do pay!)

Now you're curious, aren't you?

But seriously now,

4. Go home and take one of the tampons and dip it into the yogurt and insert it into the vagina, allowing it to stay in place for at least an hour or so -- longer certainly won't hurt you. It is COOL and SOOTHING for one thing and will get some of the "good bacteria" right where it is needed the most since that is the main reason to use it -- to get the "GOOD" bacteria into where there is a build up of too much "bad" yeast type bacteria.

5. Continue this for once or twice a day for two or three days, or as long as needed, until the situation resolves itself.

6. Of course, REMEMBER TO KEEP THE CONTAINER OF "MEDICINAL" YOGURT SEPARATE FROM THE OTHER ONES IN YOUR FRIG THAT YOU MIGHT EAT (and of course throw out any leftovers). You can more than likely use homemade yogurts too.

If you like what you're reading and are interested in more remedies--or if you've tried this one and it didn't work for you--check out Yeast Infection No More, a comprehensive how-to book on naturally curing yeast infections and preventing them from occurring in the future.

I have tried this myself a couple of times in the past (even inserting one at night before I go to bed and leaving till the morning), and it has worked like a charm.

There is also a homeopathic product on the market that you can get over the counter, I forget the name of it but most drug stores carry it, but the yogurt seems to work well.

A friend shared this yeast infection remedy with me one time because she was having a recurring problem with it herself until someone shared it with her.

At first I was like "WHAT!" But if you get desperate you are willing to try "unconventional methods." Also I wanted to stay away from all the prescription stuff and use them only as a last resort. Fortunately, I never needed anything else after the yogurt!

Of course, REMEMBER that this information is for "educational" purposes only, and you should check with your Doctor for medical advice when seeking medical treatments.

I am not diagnosing anyone either! (I just "had" to add this little insert -- couldn't resist since I see this kind of "additional info" in ALL the "Alternative" health books I read.

Happy Health!

She needs to take her to an ob/gyn and get looked at. then the doctor will give her something to make the infection go away and give her some good advice on how to prevent them. also if oyu eat plenty of yogurt with live cultures in it that keeps the good bacteria in your vagina healthy also she can get a fresh clove of garlic tie a string around it and basically use it as a tampon put it in before oyu go to bed do it for a day or two it worked for me and its natural and completely safe look it up on the internet

first of all why is she ignoring a yeast infection? she needs to treat it as soon as possible there are medications over the counter such as vagisal that help treat yeast infections, also drink plenty of water to clean out the bacteria down there

If you do not treat a yeast infection, it simply gets worse and worse.

I don't understand why your sister doesn't treat them. The itching from a yeast infection is unbearable, and only gets worse without treatment. If your sister doesn't like using over-the-counter Monistat, she could go to a doctor and get Diflucan, which is a prescription pill that gets rid of the infection in three days.

A natural treatment for a yeast infection is yogurt. Yogurt contains a healthy acidopholus bacteria that eats the yeast. If your mother can't get your sister to go to a doctor, I recommend feeding her yogurt.

I hope I helped!

First she needs to make sure that what she ahs is a yeast infection. There might be something more serious going on down there.
Monistat now manufactures a at home kit that detects yaest infections. It is available at Wal Mart for 10 dollars and it includes two tests.
It only takes one minute for the result to show up on the test. It will tell if it is a yeast infection or a more serious infection.
If it is a more serious infection, she needs to get to a gyno asap, and get checked for diseases or any other problems.
If it is just a yeast infection, she should defintitly be treating them. Yeast infections will not go away on there own. She needs to avoid working out, taking baths, swiming, having sex, having other objects in her, douching, and washing her privates with scented soap or applying any kind of lotion near there. Also tell her to stay out of tanning beds.
The best answer I can give you is : get her to her gyno and tell her the infections will not go away on there own!!!
