Does anyone understand this????!

Question: I've had my period for 8 years and i still don't understand this about Tampons. You can get Lites, Mini, Regular, Super and Super plus but then if you read at the bottom it says "Always use the lowest absorbency for your flow" If you follow that it means you should be using Lites so why do they have all the other ones then??

no, the lowest absorbency for YOUR flow, it differs between everyone. If you have a really heavy flow that day, you'd probably use a super for your lowest, because a regular just wouldn't absorb it all, while if its like your second to last day you'd use a light because you really don't need that much protection. It depends on YOUR individual flow and how far you are into your period, ect.

I guess b/c some people can't use lites because they would bleed everywhere some peoples flow is alot heavier and what the box means is don't use a huge tampon if u don't need it.....but i guess some people just need it.... uhh now could u plzzz help me!!!!

They mean that if you use Lites and are OK with them, use them. If your flow is so heavy that you need to use Super Plus, then use them. Some women have such a heavy flow that a Lite would be used up in about a minute, so they need a more absorbent tampon.

But don't use a Super Plus when you really just need a Lite.

This warning stems from the discovery of Toxic Shock Syndrome, a problem in the 1970's and 80's. Women were using Super Plus tampons, leaving them in for long periods of time, and they would get a really quick and deadly infection.

You use it depending on the flow that you have on a particular day... Most people are more heavy at the beginning of their periods. Therfore you should use a super so that you dont leak. If you were top use a light you would leak. And on the flip side, if it is towards the end of your period you wouldnt want to use a super. If it is hard to pull out when you change tampons cause it is dry, you need to use a lower absorbency

hmmm very good observation. I have never read the box myself. But then again there are a lot of products out there with crazy warnings on them and it makes you think how safe is the product.

Because if someone with a super heavy flow uses Lites they will be changing their tampon every half hour or more, whereas someone with a light flow can leave it in for the maximum required time.
