Brith Controll?!

Question: I'm getting married in a year and I need to start considering birth controll. I know there are risks and it can really mess with your hormones. What are the best kinds of birth controll that have few risks and side effects. Thanks!

I've only ever been on Yasmin. It messed with my hormones the first month but I was so moody before that that it was a little hard to tell. Sad, I know. They all have pretty much the same side effects... bleeding between periods, weight gain, nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, mood changes, blood clots (usually occur only in women over 35 who smoke). We have all heard horror stories about our moms or grandma's birth control pills but the latest birth control pills are usually low dose. Most are even combination pills. When you find one you are really interested in then you might want to visit their website. They will have specific information about that pill.

I know some popular ones are Yasmin, Yaz, Ortho Tri-cyclen, and new ones are coming out all the time that are gaining popularity. I've heard about Lybrel today. I'm currently reading about it.

Also when you go to your doctor tell him/her your concerns and discuss what your life is like. Like if you are forgetful then something like the once a week patch would be a good idea.

Personally for me the benefits of the pill like regulation of my period, less acne, and taking my mood swings down to a reasonable point make the effects worth it.

Here look at this:
Yasmin:

Lybrel:

Yaz:

Ortho Tri-cyclen:

Seasonale or Seasonique:

By the way Yaz is suppose to be the newer version of Yasmin.

Good Luck in your decision making.

The pill does interfere with your hormones. That is a fact. What it does is actually mask your natural hormones, so they will be completely regulated by you and that little pill you take every day. Some woman have very little symptoms being on the pill and they love the freedom and choices it gives them ie lighter periods, less cramps and you can even skill your period for a month if you need to for a special occasion. I personally have tried 4 different types of pill and none of them have worked for my body. I have side effects ranging from bloating, depression, increased weight, cravings and psorisis. Personally i hate the things but everyones body is different and you dont know how it will effect you till you try. There is other options such as hormone injections, again having side effects or a IUD. An IUD is inserted under general anesthetic by a doctor and can remain in you uterus for up to five years. You could always go for the good old condom. There is a lot of variety in them these days. They can even be fun! Best to speak to you doctor. Goodluck.
