Ladies, a strange question for you all?!

Question: Can a woman's breast be damaged from serious physical impact?

Example: Could it affect her production of milk (especially around the time of her period)?

I know this is a really weird question but it's for a Biology project for school.

Thanks for answering :D

Injury to breast tissue or to nearby nerves can create a lump. When a breast is injured by trauma, tiny blood vessels can rupture, resulting in localized bleeding under a bruise. This bleeding, known as a hemotoma, can be felt as a lump. Injury can also lead to a condition called necrosis in which fat cells in the breast tissue are damaged as a result of trauma to the breast. Breast lumps associated with a significant trauma are not cancerous and are usually treated with warm compresses, non-prescription pain medication, and in some instances, antibiotics.

im no expert or anything. but i would think that breast tissue could be damaged from a serious impact. any other part of your body can, why not the ta ta's...i can see it causing issues with milk production also simply due to the fact that if a woman gets implants and then decideds she wants to breastfeed her child, the scar tissue can affect milk production.

if a womans breast is being abused yes it can be damaged it can cause breast cancer i believe in the long run...

Hi there,

First of all, a woman does not produce milk during her period. A woman will only produce milk right after she gives birth to a baby or right before she gives birth to a baby. She will not produce milk any other time.

Breast tissue can be harmed the same way other fatty tissue can be harmed. It can be bruised, and hurt the same way. It is extrememly unlikely that physical impact would interfere with future ability to produce milk. Obviously there are some limits to this, for example, if you have a breast agmentation, you might not be able to breast feed as a result. But generally, running and impact sports will not effect breast function.

Hope this helps.

PS - breast injury does NOT cause breast cancer.

They can be hurt just like any other part of the body. Breasts aren't indestructible somehow.
