If you take the birth control pill perfectly at the same time every day, it's over 99% effective (specifically 99.7% is most often quoted). With typical use of the pill (i.e. most women miss doses and don't take it at the same time every day) it is around 95% effective at preventing pregnancy. It's always possible to get pregnant if you're having sex, but the pill is one of the most effective methods of preventing pregnancy.

It is possible that pills with particularly androgenic progestins can cause facial hair growth (for instance Loestrin or Estrostep). These androgenic pills can also be very bad for acne. Pills that are anti-androgenic - like Yaz, Yasmin, and Diane - will not cause any excess hair growth and may even reduce the growth of hair that is already present. See the second link for information about pills and their androgenic content.

After 2 weeks into the first pill pack it is safe for him to do his thing. It is said to be 98% but there are always those stories you hear of someone in that 2%!! I'm on it and no facial hair and not preggers for 6 years while on it.

Assuming you're talking about the pill, the over all efficacy rating is about 95-98%.

This incorporates people who skip pills, take antibiotics without using backup contraception, don't take the pill on time daily, don't start the pill properly, use medications that interfere with the pill efficacy, and those who don't fall within the "ideal" weight range.

There are some minor side effects that mirror pregnancy, including discoloration of the forehead, minor "mustache" growth, occasionally a random hair on the chest, acne, and hair growing from the navel to the pubic bone.
All of these are RARE and often MINOR, and can be handled by either changing the formulation or waxing (in cases of hair growth).

As for ejaculation protection, this is the PRIMARY reason people use the pill ---- to allow for spontaneous intercourse without needing to be overly concerned with pregnancy, or the need for alternative barrier contraception (i.e., condoms, etc).

99% effective at the MOST. It depends on which one you are on it could be less than 99% when taken correctly.

The ONLY 100% effective method is abstinence.

You cannot get facial hair on the birth control pill. If you take it and follow the instructions you were given to take the pill, your chances of pregnancy are very slim. Just make sure when you are having sex, that you don't miss the pill. That can throw off everything.
