Help with "late periods" (a little embarrassed)?!

Question: HI.

I'm 13, DoB 25 Nov 1994. I do sports in school and i have been getting a pale yellow discharge for a year and a half now.

PLEASE answer the following qs!

1. How long after the discharge comes do menses come?

2. Where is the hymen located? Can you see it from outside the vagina?

3. I've been getting on-and-off stomach aches everyday for a week now. Is this related to periods? (since constipation is related to delayed periods, will this affect my period from coming?)

4. What causes vaginal dicharge to be discharged/ what makes it? Where is it made?

PLEASE INCLUDE SOURCES!!!

Thank you so much. I'd also appreciate it you could answer my other questions by rolling over my profile. Thanks

*desperate for menses to come!!*

Your discharge is normal. There is no way anyone can tell you how much longer it will take to get your period. It might come next week, or it might come next year. Or the year after that. You are not late. You are only thirteen.

Discharge is made in the vagina. It is your vagina cleaning itself.

Your hymen is not supposed to cover the entire vaginal opening. It's a membrane, a ring of flesh. It is right at the entrance, not inside. It really serves no purpose at all, and it is unrelated to the menstrual cycle. The condition of your hymen has absolutely nothing to do with when you'll get your period.

Constipation is related to what you eat, not your period. Besides, if your period has never arrived, you are not "delayed"; you haven't even started yet, so you can't be delayed. And the cramping that indicates your period does not occur in the stomach, but in the pelvic region. It feels very different than a stomach ache from food.

so you have never gotten your period? dont be excited for it to come. you will hate it. and its not late i didnt get mine till i was 15 if you dont get it by 18 then you should be worried but ur still young..and do you have a close family memeber thats a female that could talk to you about your questions?? ij ust think it would benifit you more to talk to someone one on one and dont be embaressed its life

You probably are close to your period starting. But no need to rush it. Just enjoy the time now before it does come. Because then you'll have to deal with bloody discharge, pads, cramps, etc. I have listed a source for your vaginal discharge questions. You mentioned constipation in your post? Do you have it? You should drink about 3 to 4 glasses of water a day and stop drinking harmfull sodas or sugary drinks.
The hymen is located inside the vagina. All virgin girls do not have it intact because some sports or horse back ridding can break it naturally. It is a very thin layer of skin that can easily be puntured. Not easy to see unless a doctor is examining you.

Don't they teach kids anything about how their bodies work nowadays? 13 is not late for you to start having periods. If you were 18 and still hadn't started, it would be different. Most girls' hymens have a big-enough opening for menstrual flow to come through and for a tampon to be comfortably inserted. The hymen is located at the entrance to the vagina, sort of like a gatekeeper.

The pale yellow discharge is not normal and has nothing to do with your period. There are different causes for vaginal discharges; you need to see a gynecologist, preferably female, to determine the cause and appropriate treatment of yours.

Your stomachaches are probably not related if they are in the actual stomach area. And constipation is not related to delayed periods. If your colon is full when you have your period, it puts pressure on the back of your uterus and when your uterus pushes, you cramp. So make sure you poop regularly, especially right before and during your period. That's not the only cause of cramping, hormones called prostaglandins are another. A heating pad, ibuprofen, aspirin, Pamprin and Midol are all helpful.
