How do I tell?!

Question: How do I tell my mom that I need to go to a gynocologist, I have been getting my periods on/off now it just doesn't seem right and I haven't had a pap smear yet. I am 21 I know I should be going already to begin with because at 18 I was told by my health teacher you should get one but I have an over protective mom. I don't like at home anymore I just don't want her to find out I went to one, they are covered by insurance right?

It's a health thing, not only about sex. Just go. They do all sorts of things, like breast exam and help with your period. It is necessary to go.

Just talk to your mom about it. You're an adult already and she should understand that this is for your health. It depends on what type of medical insurance you have, but if it was covered by your insurance then it will show up on your bill anyhow.

Some advice please don't take offense.

If you are really 21 you are a big girl now and shouldn't have to ask your mom about nothing. If you don't have a job get one and get your own insurance and then go.

Being that you are 21, im sure you are old enough to just tell her that you need to go to the gyno. Or if you don't then just call and make the appt. on your own, its not a big deal.

Well just be frank and honest with her and explain everything. she should be able to understand.

You shouldnt feel so bad if you're already 21, and going to the gynecologist is normal for a woman. Don't let that get in the way of your health.

um. talk to your regular doctor and ask them about it.
they might tell your mom that you need to go.

you can go to your local health department and request that they dont share any of your information with your family. You shouldbe able to get a pap swear and whole checkup for free

you are 21 so take your insurance card and trot to the doctor or clinic. you dont have to tell your mom if or why youre going to the dr. and the doctor cant give information to your mom without your permission. if you want to tell your mom go with the truth. your periods dont feel right and you are going for a check up. the gyno takes care of much more than sex related issues. i had abnormally heavy periods for years because i didnt know how to tell my parents and regret not saying something at 15.

if your mom doesnt like it, tell her to **** off because you can and your an adult. go to planned parenthood if your scared she'll find out!!! you HAVE to go for your own health!
