If you can sneak a tampon or two from your mom or older sister, you will at least have something to use when it comes. Or buy some from the vending machines in public bathrooms and save them. They have them in movie theaters, restaraunts, etc. Some of your friends most likely have gotten it, so when it comes, you can always ask them for a tampon or pad. Wadded toilet paper can be a temporary fix. Check out beinggirl.com or kidshealth.org under the teen section for signs that your period is coming. You will have a slight clue. The more knowledge you have, the better prepared you'll be.

you know what? i got my period in school and it was really embarassing but no one really noticed and no one teased me

Buy some pads now and take them to school with you in your purse. When you get your period you'll have something.

usually when you get your period the first time its extremely light so it wouldnt even be enough to show through

well i started at school....i had an extra pair of pants in my locker...put some in ur locker an pads

The nurse has pads for just that kind of thing. Also gym teachers. I got it during school once but it was time to go so I had to use toliet paper till I got home...Totally gross I know but I couldnt find anyone! Nurse and gym teacher plus your friends. If your old enough to be worried about getting it then your friends probably are too. Keep some in your purse or locker.

Ok, well, carry some pads in your bag in a secret pocket or put the pads in your gym locker where no one will see or find them, also, If you have a weird feeling in your you know where area, then, get out a pad and go to the girls bathroom to check up on yourself, just in case! :]]]

Wear pantie liners and bring either pads or tampons with you to school to use. The pantie liner will catch anything you miss before you notice.

i started in school, but i didn't realize it until 4 hours later when i got home. it didn't even leak through my underwear.
the best thing to do is keep pads with you somewhere at school, like your locker or your bag.

just bring a pad in your bakpak and sum extra shorts and panties

Dont stress about it too much. All of the schools nurses have pads and tampons and stuff so u can always get some there. I think u generally find out u have ur period before it gets heavy enough to soak through. This may be TMI but I got mine at school when I was 15, it was only a really little bit but I just used toilet paper until I got home to my Mom. It wasnt that bad and nobody knew!

i put together a small bag (sandwich bag) of like a pad, tampon, liner, and wipes.
I keep that bag with me all the time in my extra pocket in my bag just in case something happens while im out or at school.

i was 12 when i got mine for the first time... i had no pads with me, and it happened in gym class. luckily, it didn't bleed through anything and the teacher was pretty helpful. she just gave me a pad and said good luck lol

if you are worried, buy some pads and keep one for in case you get it at school. you'll be ok :)

If your that scared keep pads, pair of pants of a sweat shirt so if it does show you can hide it.

Well, there are several ways to avoid this.

1. Buy some pads NOW so you can have them when you unexpectedly get it.

2. If you're at school and start, go into the bathroom, take some toilet paper and roll it up and stick it on your underwear like a pad.

3. If you can't buy them, ask a girlfriend (one who has had their period) or a school nurse for one. This has helped me several times.

I started mine at the eye doctor. If you're embarrassed to tell your mom when you start, tell another woman you trust. She can tell your mom, and help you.

Having your period is nothing to be afraid of once you get the hang of it. Some tips: change your pad/tampon as often as instructions say, take showers every day, and stock up on the Midol. = P

Good luck!

Always keep pads ot tampons if you use them in your bookbag in a little case. usually right when your period comes down you get a little cramp so thats when i know my period is going to come down.Or just wear a pad until you get it.

i was lucky got mines at home..but it came on light and i did'nt notice until i went to the bathroom....if you catch it early you will see it starts light first

I would suggest carrying one little pad with you in your purse or backpack or something that you can bring with you where you go, and to the bathroom when you need. Another option may be to wear a small pantyliner each day. In between periods there are certain days that the natural discharge that comes is a little heavier and its nice to have a small pantyliner on to catch that rather than have it in your panties until you can change them. If your period comes for the first time, it typically is not very heavy at all...and takes several months before it will begin to get heavier. Wearing a small pantyliner may seem funny, but that way you can relieve a little of the worry and know that if you do indeed get it during school, you will have a little protection from anything leaking through...and it won't be bad at all! Good luck =)

if you are over 12 then wear a pad everyday. i started on vacation(without my mom).
