Birth Control Pill and Weight?!

Question: Okay I know that when you are on the birth control pill, you gain weight. I have been on Tri-Cyclen for a year. If I go off it for a month and follow a diet and exercise program, will I lose weight?

you might but as soon as you get back on it you will probably gain it right back. i tried yaz (its suppose to be low dose) and ive actually lost a few pounds... good luck

Good diet and exercise will always allow you to lose fat. I wouldn't suggest stopping the pill for a month then starting again because of the emotional swing that would cause. Exercise and a diet of 2000 calories a day will drop those pounds fast.

My doctor told me that the pill itself doesn't make you gain weight, but it increases your appetite and that is where extra weight comes from.

But following any good diet/exercise program should help you lose weight. You shouldn't even have to go off of the pill to do it.

I've been on birth control for the past 2-3 yrs and i have gained weight and i hate it! Before i got on it, i had a high metabolism and weighed 103. now im almost 120. i'm going to try to stay on it and follow a diet and exercise program as well to see what happens.. good luck to you..

yes.. probably. but your chances of getting pregnant is higher. i suggest you should consult your doctor and ask for birht control pill that has no side effect of gaining weight.
