How effective is the Depo Shot?!
Question: I went on the depo shot at the end of Feb. and I still have yet to have my period, and I am pretty sure Depo can stop my period completely. But my question is has anyone gotten pregnant from being on Depo? My husband and I do not want to get pregnant and I always make him pull out on top of having the shot, but I just want to see if it is truely effective. Depo was the only birth control I could go on because I can not have estrogen due to a blood clot, sucky I know.

Depo can stop your periods completely, but it varies per the woman. Some have very light periods or no periods at all, and some women have heavy long lasting periods while on Depo.
I got pregnant on it! When I was sixteen. I went religiously every 3 months. I would personally recommend looking into the ring or something. Good Luck.
depo did not stop my periods....but it did prevent me from getting pregnant! i didnt like it myself! found myself to gain alot of weight and have mood swings! along with more then 1 period a month!! Boooo!! but it effects everyone differently!
Although everyone's bodies are different.... I was on the Depo shot for 5 years and never got pregnant. I never had my period in those 5 years either.
Also, took me a while to get back "regular" after going off the shot. Some people report it takes them a while to get pregnany after coming off the Depo shot.
its one of the most effective methods of birth control i think, if you get your shot on time every month. It will stop your period almost completely...you may just have spotting a few times a year. I was on it for 6 yrs and then they said it wasnt safe to be on it that long, otherwise i would still be on it.
i was on it for 10 years...no period for 10 years.....stop making the guy pull out.
changed to Paraguard IUD no hormones...i have osteopenia cause from the progesterone in depo shot. be sure your doctor does a bone density test to periodically on the depo.
Its extremely affective, like 99%. I still make him where a condom though. because it kind of worries me, too.
