I just don't understand why people use it when a girl is flipping out on someone/thing and since its "Pre" doesn't that mean before?

that's right. pre- menstrual syndrome. your menstraul syndrome is NOT your period. it is when you ovulate i think. so you have your period(pre-men.) then you have your menstrual cycle.
Menstrual means period. Pre-menstrual means pre-period. Therefore meaning before period. Girls hormones go crazy right before the girl gets her period causing mood swings etc. Hope my explanation helps! Xx
