Do you have to have a blood test to get on birth control?!

Question: Do I have to have a blood test to get on birth control?

Answers: Do I have to have a blood test to get on birth control?

No, if you have had sex you need a pap, but not a blood test.

Don't think so.

Some birth control pills can raise your potassium so certain physicians may make you take a blood test depending on what type of birth control you are going on. That isn't really standard but getting a physical and a gynecological exam is. Women, especially on birth control, should get yearly physicals to make sure you are healthy.

you should I wish I had not b/c i was pregnant but b/c I have a blood disorder called Factor V Leiden can't remember whether its a mutation or a disorder and after only three or four weeks on the birth control I came down deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and know I'm on blood thinners for the rest of life and have to be careful when it comes to physical activities to prevent internal bleeding due to meds or bed rest which could cause more blood clots
