If I've given urine samples for UTI's, would STD's show up?!

Question: Here's some background info:

I've had sex with only two people in my life.
One guy when I was younger.
And my current boyfriend - we're long-term, possibly marriage in the future, and he was a virgin when we had sex.

The first guy was NOT a virgin, but we always used a condom. However, with the new stats of 1 in 5 girls having an STD in America, of course I'm concerned if he potentially had an STD at the time.

I suffer from frequent UTI's. Everytime I have one, I go in to my gyno's office, I give a urine sample, and I get the meds for the UTI. I also had a lump in my breast about a year ago, and had bloodwork done before surgery to remove the lump.

My question is:::
Since PAP smears don't test for STD cells, would having gone through both blood work and urine samples reveal any abnormalities in my system related to STDs?

You would have to have the tests done. When they do a urine or a blood test, they are only looking for specific things. You could have an STD but not know because they haven't tested for them.

If you are worried about STDs just have your doctor order tests for them too while you are giving blood for other things :)

Yes it would, if the proper tests were done on the specimens.

well usually the pap test would show if there were any std's found but just got for your check up every year and make sure your aware of everything be safe goodluck

You could have an STD but not know because they need specific tests.
If you are worried about STDs ask your doctor to order a full series of tests including HIV screening.
