Conratulations! You're growing up. Having your period means that you are mature and it brings opportunities as well as responsibilities. I remember when I got my first period I was excited, but I was also scared because I didn't know what would happen, so let's see if I can't help you out with some of my own experience.

Everyone's period is different--for some women, it's heavier for the first two days and light thereafter, for others it's light at the beginning and end and heavy right in the middle, it all depends on your body. Don't expect your period to be regular...you may miss a couple months entirely or it can last for nearly a month. If it does this, there's nothing wrong, but if you're still worried, talk to your doctor, they explain this to people every day--it's their job.

Enjoy the journey of adolesence, it'll be full of ups and downs, but you'll make it. This is the most exciting part of your life, so hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

Yay for you....for now at least....

for the next 37 years of your life. you will enjoy the comforts of cramps, changing a tampon/pad every few hours, having to remeber to insert cotton up your...um... everytime you want to go swimming but have your period, bloating (ah feeling like a beached whale is just feeling i want to wake up to) the ability to now get pregnant! Oh and the ability to ruin bedsheets and white pants in one little leakage! But there might be few good points, i just can't think of them now..but if you do focus on them it might take your mind off the multiple bad ones...

Have a good trip on the journey of womanhood! :)

Lolz. This is confusing me a bit, but I sort of understand.
Your happy your period is starting - as you should be, but your also worried and finding it a bit gross because you suddenly found blood in you knickers.
Your period could be quite heavy for the first time. Its important you tell your Mum so you can get some sanitary towels to wear so your blood wont ruin your underwear and school uniform.
It will last for about 5-7 days on your first time, and it could feel strange, a bit like your wetting yourself, but once its out you feel a bit more grown up and happy about yourself.
Its nothing to panic about, periods happen to every girl on the planet. Its the only thing we all have in common!
Just wear the pads, let your mum know and everything is fine.
Trust me, there is nothing to worry about!
If you have any more questions about periods or getting use to them, or where to purchase pads that are better for your size dont hesitate to email me!

congragulations, you are now a " woman "
unfortunately this will be your " burden " the next 40 years !
but you will be fine. just remember to carry a few extra " pads " around same time next month ?

Congrats!

Well usually the first 2 years, your period might not be regular (every month) and don't worry it will eventually. It usually lasts between 4-7 days.

I would put an X or * on the calendar to keep track when of it for future reference.

You might get emotional and cry alot, your breasts might feel soar, your lower back and stomach might hurt and you crave sweets (chocolate) too.

Take some pain killers (tylenol, advil, motorin or midol) for cramps and drink some warm liquids too. A hot water bottle might help with stomach cramps.

Keep some pads with you at all times. It's a natural part of a woman's life and talk to your mom, sister or aunt for any more questions.
