Negative Ovulation Bloodwork wrong?!

Question: I have been TTC for 3 years. I'm just wrapping up my first cycle on Clomid, which I took on cd's 3-7.
Today would be cycle day 23.
I got a positive ovulation predictor kit test on cd.19 and also had ewcm. My doc did a progesterone blood test on day 20 to test for ovulation and it came out negative. Today I've read that the progesterone test shouldn't be drawn until 7 days after suspected ovulation...when mine was taken just the day after the pos. opk.

Is it possible that I did ovulate late and the bloodwork was drawn too soon? My doctor didn't seem to concerned that I got a pos. opk on day 19. And just talked about starting clomid next cycle at a higher dosage.

I don't mean to give myself false hope, but something just doesn't feel right.

I would say that if you got a positive on the OPK then its most likely correct. If you had EWCM then all signs point to ovulation as long as your temps correspond with it. Perhaps the bloodwork was done a bit early. I would continue to use the OPK and see what the next cycle tells you.
