Very personal problem...any advice?!

Question: A year ago, I went for my 6 week check up after I had my son, an the O.B. told me that I had a yeast infection, and perscribed this medication to me. It was 2 pills to swallow. I took the first one, an it made me really dizzy, felt sick, just gross. So I didnt take the other. Now, a year later, I have like this discharge, not cottage cheese like, but really milky, that will leak out of me, an actually wet my pants...esp. close to my period time. I think I may have the yeast infection still, but I have no health insurance. Has anyone had anything like this? I'm married, been with the same person for 5 1/2 years, an we are very faithful to each other. Its not an std. What is something that I can buy, that is easy to use....should I try that kit that tells you what kind of infection it is?? Help!!

Small amounts of discharge are normal. Every woman is different but if there is not an odor you don't have much to worry about. If you have been checked for STD's in the past and all tests have come up negative you will be fine. Sounds like your significant other is clean too. I would say just use panty liners. If you are still concerned, you may want to consider a free family planning clinic. I went to one when I didn't have any health insurance either. They will most likely set you up with some state aid to cover testing and medication costs. You might even get your care for free. It's all based off income. But back to your question, no odor and no STD = normal. We all have a little discharge from time to time even if we don't like to admit it. One last thought is that you may also have an unbalanced pH. But you will still want to talk to a doctor or nurse about it if you have the time.

You can go to a local pharmacy and see what they have for yest infections. do NOT douche because it just pushes the bacteria farther up and can make you really sick. Also all women get a white thickish discharge right before and after their because of ovulation, but it shouldn't wet the pants. If you go to the health department it's a lot cheaper and they can see if there is something really wrong. yeast infections can turn into PID if untreated and that can be deadly.

Have you thought it could be Thrush?
An over the counter diagnosis with your local pharmacist should uncover the problem

You did'nt have a yeast infection for a whole year. There's something else going on. If your married, then your husband should pay for your next exam. I strongly advise you see a Gynecologist immediately, and because your still having sex, then he should be checked out too!. Your local health dept. will give both of you exams for free, and so will Planned Parenthood. (PS) You have some kind of medical problem, and I would'nt trust a store-bought item,to give accurate results.

I would try the kit that tells you what kind it is.You should be able to find an otc remedy at your local drug store for whatever infection it says you have. Not all yeast infections are caused by std's but you can give it to your husband. Every woman will have at least 1 yeast infection in her life. If you do decide to go to your doc make sure to tell him about the reaction you had to the meds he gave you. If your town has a local health department try going there. It's cheaper and they deal with this type of problem all the time.

Hi Little Deer,

There are so many causes of yeast infections which is why so many people get them unfortunately! But there are ways of getting rid of it. When I first got it I went straight to the doctors and he suggested creams etc which got rid of it at first but it kept coming back no matter how many different products I tried.

In the end I did some research on the internet and found a website with a completely natural way to get rid of it for good and, touch wood, I haven't had it again since! I hope this works for you too! If you want to give it a try you can find it at

Don't worry - I found a great cure and you will too!
