8. something you can had pierced which isnt too revealing

Is this just so you can get it done? Then that's silly. Get one because you want one not for reasons other people find them needed.
A belly button ring....Sounds like you're trying to convince mom to let you get one.

2. can change the barrel to match your outfit
3. looks good in a bathing suit
4. can be taken out at any time
5. could swap the gold ring for cash if you had a $ shortage

There not and especially if you are overweight
they are pretty... they are common.
I got one when I was in my late 20's. I wanted one for a long time but after I had it done it wasn't as "cool" as I thought it would be. It hurt and it took a while to heal. They are pretty is about the only reason I can think of.
I am not in any position to dictate if getting one is good (I don't have one). It is a personal decision to get one and that should be your call.
