Thyroid Question???!

Question: What are the signs that you have a Thyroid problem?

Answers: What are the signs that you have a Thyroid problem?

Symptoms of hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) can include weight gain, hair loss, headaches, abnormal menstrual cycles, weakness, fatigue and irritability (among others).

Symptoms of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) can include fatigue, heart palpitations, insomnia, breathlessness, light menstrual cycles and nervousness (among others).

Ultimately, if you suspect you may have thyroid problems, see your family physician. He/She will order blood tests that measure the levels of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) in your body. Possible tests are: TSH, T4 and T3. Some doctors rely solely on the results of a TSH test to diagnose thyroid problems, though T4 and other tests can help include or exclude subclinical diagnoses of conditions.

Symptoms differ for hyper v. hypo thyroid problems. Get a blood test. Only way to confirm it for sure.

I have hypothroidism. I gained 40 pounds when I first was diagnosed and trying to get my meds figured out.

Also, tired all the time and cannot focus.

well if its an under active thyroid you would be slowed down. you would feel very tired alot of the time, feel cold some of the time, you would gain weight...and could possibly be constipated alot of the time or some of the time.

I was having chest pains or discomfort you may say and that is when they found mine. Tired all the time, sluggish, just not really feeling that great. If you have had a drastic change in your weight whether losing or gaining that may be a sure sign .
It has to do with the metabolism thing, either it is working too fast or too slow.
