Besides a hysterectomy, what other options do you think I have?!

Question: I've been having problems with an entrocele, cyctocele and rectocele for about 8 years now. I had lapband sugery and have lost 93 lbs now (I'm 7 lbs away from goal.) I was told that losing weight would help these problems 'go away.' Well, they have lessened in severity but go away? hardly....
I went to a urogynocologist and he set me up for a pelvic MRI and urodynamic's test to see what's going on for next week. He also stated that my uterus is 4 times the size it should be which could be causing alot of my issues. I don't want to have a hysterectomy, I wonder if there is anything that would 'shrink' my uterus down to normal size and avoid all surgery all together.
I'm sure this is wishful thinking on my part. I'm 50 yrs old, in excellent physical health, and I haven't begun to go thru menopause yet (thank god.) I had my hormones and a uterine biopsy done and they came back with the results that I'm 'perimenopausal' whatever that means....
Any good advice is appreciated!!

I had a partial hysterectomy 17yrs ago due to lots of female problems.Previous to that I went through 6 surgeries for endomitriosis(spelling?).ovarian cysts etc.I was used as pin cushion as far as I was concerned. But I still had lots of problems.I had the rest of my ovary removed in Dec07 where they found the Ormonds Disease. As far as my menopause it set in hard .But at least I'm not in pain anymore..I think you better find a second opinion before you go through any more?,You just seem so hesitant about everything .You need to end your suffering one way or another.I went through hell for so many years ...I wish I knew then what I do now.I know you finally found a doctor you like . but r you able to really talk about all your options with him .If you need the surgery then get it done,so you feel normal again.
Peri menopause is the start of menopause where your body is just starting to realize it isn't making as much hormones,ur period will slow down, hot flashes are starting here and there.,might start gaining weight, your body is saying no more kids too.you get more emotional too.
hope this helps
I hate saying this .... but I wonder if steroids could help the swelling?Make sure you understand the ramifications though...I ended up with glaucoma due to much steroid use for my stomach issues(anti inflammatory agent use) and for my asthma Research everything like you are
take care, hope your test turn out well

These are all things you need to be asking your Dr. You can make this easier on yourself by writing it all down before you go and remembering to take the list with you. Let him know you want to know all the options and that a hysterectomy is, to you, the last choice.
Having a hysterectomy does not have to be the end of anything, except your problems but I know that many women have issues with having the "girl parts' removed. If you are concerned with hormonal changes and a hysterectomy is inevitable, having your ovaries remain intact will guard you from this aspect of hormonal change.
Many times hysterectomies can be avoided, so do not despair. It sounds like you have made choices to advance your health with your weight loss and changes in your life, and you say you are now in excellent health. I applaud your efforts, and wish you luck.
