14 yr old gyno confidentiality?!

Question: I have a gyno meeting soon and my mom wants to know whether I've had sex (and I have) but since I'm only 14 can I ask for doctor patient confidentiality?

you should be able to. i went to the gyno when i was 17 and she asked if i'd had sex and i had.. she didn't tell my mom.

just be sure that your mom stays in the waiting room and doesn't come in to your consultation.

if worst comes to worst you could tell your gyno that you aren't sexually active. I don't think they can really tell unless you have STDs or have sex a lot and have swelling in your vagina. If you get a pap and she sees that your hymen is broken it doesn't always mean you've had sex.

Whatever you tell a gyno is 100% confidential, regardless of how old you are. But make sure your mum doesn't go with you!!

The gyno should not tell your mother anything, but if it's regarding your health, the gyno will have to tell. Also, why are you having sex so young?

she wont kill you =/
she'll be very pissed off that
her little girl is haveing sex
I know I would... I'm 16 as I said before
and havent had sex before i dont wanna
till im over 18 and with someone i love
you shouldn't be having sex at 14 thats...
uh so wrong!! why is the world so freaking
messed up theses days??

Tell your mom yourself if you tell her
yourself it'll be easyer on her
she 'll be very mad at you
but hey you told her the turth and thats somthing

just walk up to her say you want to have a talk with her
and tell her... and maybe even ask her about sex?
because sex isn't just some thing you can go and
have! it isnt a game! yeh you're probly thinking
well i've never had sex I dont know what im talking bout
but i do! i've read up on sex I know tons!
so i can be ready when i have sex!

so yeah tell your mom ask her stuff
so you dont gotta go to the doctor
because she'll find out anyways... trust me!

You can ask your doctor for patient confidentiality! But think about what you have just told us,, you are 14 years old,, still a child,, and have had sex.. this is not good,, you are far too young,, you are still a child,, I know you probably think you are ready, but I can assure you you are not! When you are 20 years older you will look back and think why!! you really will,,stop now,,wait now,, think now,, before its too late,, before you either catch something you will have to live with for the rest of your life,, or have to give birth to a child,, then have to make a choice you have to live with for the rest of your life,, you see,, either way this is for the rest of your life,, try to think very very carefully about why you had sex now,, what reason did you have to have sex,, was it peer pressure,, was it wondering what its actually like, was it alcohol? Because I can promise you now,, it wasn't love!

Ask the Dr. to put you on birth control. It's fine if you bond with your mom about sex. She's wanting that bond. You won't be punished if you ask for the pill. It shows you're smart.

As you grow, your cells mature. At 14, the cells surrounding your cervix are immature and easily accessible to disease. The younger you have sex, the chances of contracting venereal diseases; and bad ones; not to mention pregnancy.
Your visit with the gynecologist should be a private meeting with you alone first, and then he/she may ask your Mom to join you. It's your choice and your life! Good luck to you; you have some difficult choices to make, but you can do it!
