How much does a colposcopy hurt?!
Question: they told me they need a biopsy too, 2 samples that is less than a size of the head of a matchstick. that sounds like alot. and painful. already sex hurts im trying to imagine what this will feel like.

I had a colposcopy. I had 3 biopsy's taken at that time.
It did not hurt except for some pinching pain when the biopsy's were taken.
A few things to know:
- The specula used during a colposcopy is larger than one used for an exam alone.
- The doctor will most likely be taking digital pictures of your cervix with a machine. You will be able to see your cervix on the monitor. That was kinda neat.
- You get to keep your top on - which always make me feel more comfortable/less exposed.
- I didn't bleed
Good for you for going back to get a follow up. Turned out I had carcinoma in situ (the stage right before invasive cancer) which was more serious than what the pap smear had showed. I had the leep procedure and went for checkups every 3 months for years. I am fine and it is all just a memory now. When I think of it, I feel empowered that I took control of my own health and caught the cancer before it became invasive. It feels GREAT. Good luck!

Ive had a coloposcopy and biopsy twice, and it sucked. they take a little tool, looks like scissors with a teeny tiny melon baller on the end of it and they snip peices off of your cervix. it wasnt too painful, but the whole experience was horrible, just kind of disturbing. and it bled alot... like all over the table when i sat up.. but thats my own experience... didnt want to lie.. but youll be fine and atleast its over quick.
