Toxic shock syndrome?!

Question: just wondering, will a person definitely get TSS if they leave a tampon in for 24 hours straight or is it only a possibility?

Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome can happen following a streptococcus infection in the body, most often a skin infection or an infected wound. Within 48 hours of infection, the person's blood pressure drops dangerously low, and he or she may have fever, dizziness, confusion, difficulty breathing, and a weak and rapid pulse. The skin may be pale, cool, and moist, and there may be a blotchy rash that sometimes peels. The area around an infected wound can become swollen, red, and have areas of severely damaged or dying flesh. The liver and kidneys may begin to fail, and bleeding problems may develop.

only a possibility

A possibility. I've heard of a case where a tampon has (accidentally) been left in for, like, 2 weeks, and the girl didn't get TSS. However, some people have some kind of virus or something in them that makes them more susceptible to TSS, and you don't know that you have it. Happened to a friend of mine. Rule of thumb, tampons are to be left in for 2-8 hours.

Possibility, but why in the world would you want to do that. I'd think it and your bottom would get pretty nasty for lack of a better word.

its possible .. but u ll have fever and feel very bad sick to your stomach ect... you would know!

It is actually just a possibility. I have heard of people that have accidently left it in for a week, 2 weeks, and a month. It is actually quite common for people to leave it in and forget about it. But still, I think that if you did leave it in for 24 hours then you should get your vagina checked by your gyno. Its not safe and it is very very risky.

but yes, answering your question, it is only a possibility.

Only a possibility. Every body has different germs, so one person may get it before another depending on their health status.
