Why can't you have sexual intercourse before a pelvic exam/pap smear?!
Question: is it because it can interfere with the results?
Answers: is it because it can interfere with the results?
Yes...cells are taken from the cervix...they can have blood or semen on them rendering a bad result.
you are correct. you also should not use spermicides, vaginal creams or douches.
Sure is... They need clean sample to read, diagnosis, and treat. Obscuring contaminants can cause false results.
yep it can interfere as well you cant use certain creams and douche!
besides messing with the results, they want you to let your cervix rest so you won't be so sore and will relax more wjile they do the exam. it's really ahrd for them to do it when your sore from the night before and then they have to poke and scratch, you can't calm down cuz then it really hurts. i learned the hard way.
