Ok here it goes....First of all pill or no pill, a woman Ovulates and is ready to recieve sperm to make her pregnant anywhere from 10-15 days after the first day of her last period. She is at risk of getting pregnant in a 5-7 day window. After that the uterine lining begins to breakdown and about 5 more days +/- she has another period.
If you have your period the day before sex there is no way you can become pregnant, all the blood and lining is on its way out same goes for having sex two days before your period, if you start bleeding and have a normal period all the sperm will wash out with the blood and lining, again no chance. After the bleeding stops and 5-7 days have passed you need to be careful for the next 5-7 days as she is now once again ovulating. Notice your mucus change about 13 days after the first day of your last period notice if you get some between your fingers it is a little sticking or stringing....now your body is ovulating and you are ready to get "knocked up".
Now with the pill no it is not 100% effective but it is damn close, If you take it correctly it tells the body that it is not pregnant due to the hormones and the lining sheds away just like a normal period....technically if you were ovulating and a few sperm got to the egg it is possible that a conception did occur and that the cells would have split about 3-4 times but then the body would start its period regardless.
I hope this clears up your confusion.

its a very little chance..but you are 100% right...there is no way that you cant get pregnant if you have sex

When you get to the end of the pack of pills (the sugar pills) you can NOT get pregant. By that time, the unused egg is on its way out. Your period is jsut about to come. Trust me..Ive been on the pill for over two years now and its not possible to get pregnant during tht last week of pills. Thats why ther is no hormone in them because its not needed.

If she takes her pill regularly, the risk of pregnancy is very low (usually about 98-99% effective). She protected throughout the whole month. Even during the week of inactive pills.

To tell the truth sperm can live in a body for days with out latching onto an egg...So yeah the chance still is there

Yes it's possible. The pill is not 100% effective but it's pretty close.

Maybe the pill is not 100%

The pill is 99% effective with perfect use but the average person is not perfect which means the actual effectiveness is closer to 92%

The fact that she was on the sugar pills has no bearing on effectiveness. You are equally protected during the entire pack (sugar pills included).

Therefore she could get pregnant but it is very unlikely.
