I had my appendix taken out when I was 8 years old I remember having really intense pains but our GP said it would be fine.
One morning a few weeks later during my school holidays the pain became unbearable my dad called the doctor and another one turned up who thankfully said I had to be taken in to hospital. When I arrived I was rushed to operating room as my appendix were about to burst.
Once they had been removed I felt a bit groggy but after a day or so I felt fine and was able to come home.
It was the best thing that happened because I stopped getting pains.
It will be fine he doctors and nurses in the hospital know what they are doing your in the right place.
GOOD LUCK

Hello,

The medical team responsible for your case is appointed to answer questions like these - it is all included in what is called informed consent. They will gladly answer any of the questions you may have regarding the surgery, and will know the answers ten times better than anyone on Yahoo answers would.

not being mean,
but post this tomorrow.
because its 2:00 in the morning and
alot oif people arnt on the computer
so you will not get as many asnwers as you would like.

My brother had his out. He went home the next afternoon.

At first they said he had to stay at least 24 hours and then keep food down. Then the next day they said if he could walk, keep fod down and go to the washroom he could leave.

At home he had to lay low for about 10 days.

No physical activity whatsoever for 2 weeks and no intense physical activity or heavy lifting for 6 weeks

The person who said these questions should be addressed by your medical team is absolutely right because your question depends on how they take it out.

There is convention surgery then they could do laparoscopic surgery, and there is a big difference in the recovery time, and disposition.

Convention surgery will have you wait for bowels sounds, food intake, walking will be difficult but get up and walk straight as soon as possible, waking up from both is about he same because that's depends on the anesthesia. Your hospital stay is usually 1-2 days for conventional surgery based on insurance. conventional surgery requires a convention closing of the wound which would mean removal of staples or sutures and activity will be limited to healing. Your stay at home will be really up to you but they will usually write you a lifting profile.

Now laparoscopic surgery eliminates all the above except the wake up. You can usually go home the same or next day, and activity resume rather quickly.

I had chronic pain which they couldn't detect and they chalked it up to Poly-cystic Ovaries, even though they really couldn't see any, and did a pie wedge out both ovaries and cured the pain.

hey katie what about all the nurses working all night long wide awake babe!! anyhow, surgery will be fine, anesthesia is pretty cool because when you wake back up it feels like only 2 seconds have passed, the down side is you will feel pain and sometimes nausea but the nurses will be right there to help immediately. you are young every single day recovery will be easier, good luck
