How many showers is too many?!

Question: I used to take a shower a day, two if I'm expecting my boyfriend over. Lately, I've had the desire to take more. I've been under a lot of stress lately, and the sound of the water is soothing. I took three to four showers a day for about a week and planned to stop until I noticed my skin was clearing up, I was full of more energy than usual, even before a cup of coffee. and of course it doesn't hurt to smell good. I was just wondering, is this healthy? Am I going "OCD" about the whole shower thing, or am I fine?

Well, too much exposure to that could cause your skin to crack or dry eventually. But it sounds like the steam and water pressure are detoxifying your body which is what is making you feel so nice. I suppose that as long as it does not inhibit your ability to function normally, you should be fine.

Sounds fine. It's not doing you any harm.

I guess its fine, i just wouldnt want to pay your waterbill i mean what hurt can being clean do? Its fine

like about 8 or 13 is too many! what you're doing it practically just one more shower than the expected..there's nothing wrong with that...plus, you do it only to relax...that's a good idea to me, sounds like you're healthy.

if its clearing you up making you happy and not doing any harm than this is fine but if you feel anything negative then just take a bit of a break :-)

Maybe 5 or 6, you dont wanna be too clean

Maybe a little OCD but it isn't actually clinical OCD until it starts to interfere with your regular everyday activities. Some people like a few showers a day but I think anything over 3-4 is getting a little on the crazy side.

I agree with adrianne, as long as you dont over dry your skin its fine.

There is no such thing as too many showers. I have 2-3 a day, sometimes more. So does my bf. Shower are relaxing and I love feeling clean.

it sounds fine to me. i should do that too if it makes your skin clear up. thx for the tip=D

taking showers doesn't affect you at all. you probably like doing it because it soothes your stress don't worry your fine. just remember to not wash your hair all the time because you can damage it and also apply lotion after you take a bath. don't worry your fine! ^__^

There are these little soothing fountains that you can buy from Sears where you can hear the sound of the ocean etc. Maybe you should try one of those. Too much hot, hard water could dry your skin out and you could develop a problem with dry, itchy, cracked skin and you DO NOT want that to happen. IF I were you, I'd slow down and go back to maybe once in the morning and once in the evening and MAYBE once after a workout or something.

Be careful for you hair, shampoo could easy damage your hair, because their is lots of chemical involved, try to eliminate the shampoo up to 2 to 3 times a week, but nothing wrong with a shower over all .

Just 2 a day tops. You don't want to be too clean because you will weaken your immune system and start getting sick easily.

There is nothing wrong with taking more than one shower a day but the only thing that you may want to consider is shampooing and conditioning your hair that often is not good for it. It will dry it out and cause damage. Also excessive soap will dry out your skin. Warm water can dry out your skin as well. The soothing part of the water mentally may be good for you so you may consider not using shampoo and soap every time you shower. Also after each shower I would use a soothing lotion and a leave in hair treatment. I don't think you are going OCD you are just looking for a good relaxation method.

No harm at all. You can NEVER have too many showers. Also, the relaxation is worth it!
