Will a yeast infection gradually go away without doing anything?!

Question: If not than can some one help me? I'm not sure what to do and I don't want to talk to my mom about it because she makes a big deal out of everything, like literally a big deal and she gets so angry. I'm 15 years old. I'm pretty sure I have a yeast infection because I'm CONSTANTLY having stuff that comes out and it's a strange colour unlike discharge and smells very bad.

What can I do on my own? OR can I just wait and maybe it'll go away?

If you don't itch, it's not a yeast infection. You need to see a doctor.

Once you start puberty a white and/or clear, non-foul smelling discharge (mucous) is normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. You will also have your own 'scent' (musky) and it will smell stronger to you than to others. This same discharge increases the closer you get to ovulation and when you are sexually aroused. Trust me, you don't ever want it to go away.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.

Different types of infections:

Signs of yeast infections:
White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching

Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

Signs of trichomoniasis
A watery, yellowish or greenish bubbly discharge
An unpleasant odor
Pain and itching when urinating
Most apparent after your period

Yes, give it time and it will go away. It usually takes a week for them to go away without any medication.

condoms should prevent yeast infections

they should go away eventually

Go to the store and by some Monistat!!!!!!

Try the Monistat 3 day treatment (don't waste your money on the 1 day treatment, it will not work). It will still be about a week before the infection is completely gone. Keep the area as dry as possible (wear a mini pad and change it often throughout the day). Eat lots of yogurt with active cultures. You should feel better in about a week. If not, call your dr. Also, if you have recurring yeast infections, go to your dr. It can be a sign of diabetes.

Well, go to your dad and ask him to make you a doctors appointment, and say somehting like, 'girl problems, just make the appointment PLEASE' Hopefully he will understand

the docotr should give you some sort of cream...make sure its a female doctor, theres nothing worse than male doctors with this sort of stuff...

It will go away on it's own, however that may lead to other problems. Talk to your mom about what's going on and she can go to the store and buy you Monistat. It cures yeast infections, and it will help yours go away. Good luck.

Not just Monistat, also eating Yoghurt helps.
See a specialist anyway.

It won't go away. Get a friend to take you to walmart or a near by drug store and by some monistat.

If it doesn't go away after that then just talk to her, a yeast infection is not something to get mad about, every girl will get them and does get them. It doesn't MEAN that your having sex or anything (if you are) I had one about a year before i started having sex. So she can't blame you because it doesn't nessesarily mean that you have, if thats what your worried about.

Try to get it taken care of before your next period. Because it is absolutely horrible to have your period and a yeast infection at the same time. Been there done that.

I'm your age and I have one too! But, my Mom told me it's not that big of a deal and she's going to get the Monistat thing. If you have friends that can drive, have them go to Walgreens and pick it up for you. If not, it should go away. If you have regular yogurt, without any flavoring, then take some and put it on the area that itches. Also, drink some cranberry juice!

There are some medicines that you can buy at any drug store that should work. It used to be necessary to get a prescription for these drugs but then it was approved for them to be sold without a prescription. Monistat is a good one. http://www.monistat.com/index.jsp If you eat lots of sugar you may want to stop because that can contribute to yeast infections. From my experience, they do not usually go away on their own without some type of treatment. Also probiotics are helpful. You can get them at a health food store. They are good bacteria that help get rid of the yeast.

Yeast infections are common in the young and the old. I get them from taking antibiotics for sinus infections. You can purchase treatment in your grocery stores near where you find tampons. Eating yogurt also helps.

It will go away on it's own, most likely when you get your next period. But it will be very uncomfortable in the meantime. You can purchase many different creams or medications for it at a drug store and you don't need a prescription.
If there is a chance that you may have an STD you should have a Dr. check you and don't wait. Serious things can occur with untreated STDs.

yeast infections need treatment, and if you have never had one you should see a physician for a proper diagnosis before using any over the counter treatments.
