Um, my appendix burst and so I had an emergency appendectemy(sp?). They did it laproscopically so they could suck out the...stuff from my appendix. Haha. But I was in the hospital for four and days and the worst part is probably the nurses coming in every two hours to check your vitals. Since yours is planned though, and not sudden, it probably won't take too much of a toll. It was kind of painful to go pee at first but as you get up and walk around more, it gets better. So when the nurses reccomend you take a walk down the hall, do it. Once I left the hospital, though, I didn't take any more pain medication and didn't suffer from any bad pain. So hopefully all goes well with you too! Good luck and don't worry!

It depends on how they are going to do the appendectomy. When I had mine removed I had appendicitis and it was removed through laproscopy. I didn't find the pain too unbearable and would consider it only soreness. I belive my shoulder hurt more because of the gas they used during the surgery. The first few days you will experience pain and soreness. It helps if you walk and relax a lot. I recommend taking the pain pills you are prescribed as the doctor tells you to. I didn't and I was in intense pain and almost in tears. It all depends on your pain tolerance though. After a week you should start to feel normal again. Hopefully this helps you. Just relax and you'll be fine. In your case it's an elective and not an emergency. Emergency surgery is way more serious.

you will have a laproscopic surgery, they will blow up your abdomen with a gas, take out your appendix from your belly button, and that is it, lots of gas and bloating but hardly no pain
