Condoms are birth control - they also protect against STI's so make sure you know how to use them (most breoken condoms are due to not being put on correctly, so don't just assume you know how to put one on or that he knows).

If you want to use something else as well as condoms then that is up to you, just as long as you make an educated choice - there are many forms of birth control, all with pros and cons, most common methods are hormonal which can have serious affects on your general health so not the best option so if it's not necesary after this one time (not sure where your thinking is on this, but hey I'm sure you do) because messing your whole body up for up to a year just for one time sex is a bit silly.

See what works for you, we can't tell you what to do.

A condom is only 97% effective against pregnancy and that is when used correctly.

If you are not going to have sex regularly, why are you starting to have it now? Wait until the right person comes along before giving it up.

Just because you don't plan on it being a regular occurrence, doesn't mean that it won't turn out that way. I would go to your gyno and ask about the pill, the shot, the patch, or some other form of contraceptive for you to use. You can never be too careful!

condoms ARE birth control.

a condom can break so the only sure fire way for protection is abstinance

Why are you contemplating sex if you're not planning on it being a regular occurrence? A condom used properly is sufficient birth control, but if you're not confident about it then it makes sense to use back-up BC, like a sponge, foam, the pill, etc.

Again however, in what way are you 'ready' to have sex with your boyfriend if you don't plan on it being a regular occurrence?

thats a bit cruel, letting your boyfriend only sleep with you once..

either do it often or not at all, and dont confuse his dick. haha

theres no need to deny yourself because your paranoid, start going on microgynon pill, and always use a condom, and your like 99.8% sure if not becoming pregnant. :)
