Period At School!?!

Question: Hi.
I am really scared that I might get my period at school. I have pads in my bag, but I don't really want to wear them, as my Mum didn't get her period until she was 16 and I'm 13.
Anyways, what should I do if I happen to get it! We are not really allowed to go out of class to go to the toilet, so it might leak through!

My friends sister said that she got her period at school and the blood went everywhere! All over her uniform and seat!
I am so scared!

What should I do?

it wont be a big deal, trust me!
your friend was exaggerating, your period isnt gonna be that heavy! when you first get your period its like only a drop of blood, you wont even notice!! so its not gonna really get all over you! and just wear a panty liner everyday, that will be pretty much all you need for your first period! and then if you get it, it wont be a big deal!

and periods are not as big of a deal as people lead girls to believe! they like to make it into some big mystery, and everyone gets all scared. and then when you finally get your period, your like that was no big deal, i worried for nothing! the cramps are the worst part. i actually dont even really mind being on my period! its the cramps that i hate!!

Well everytime I get close to my period (I started getting it late last year and it's still irregular), my breasts start to get tender and icky, so I take that as a warning sign that it's coming. Also, mine starts off slow. And some people get spots before it happens. So usually, you do get some warning of when it's going to start, if that's any help.

I had a teacher in high school who never let students leave the classroom. Couldn't go to the bathroom, your locker, to the nurse... nowhere!
I asked to go the bathroom & he said no. I flat out told him I had my period & asked if he wanted to clean it off the seat.
He let me go.

Aren't tampons/pads supposed to absorb the blood?

I personally don't think your mom's age of first period has much to do with yours.

Don't worry! You may get it like during the night even. But i got mine during school (5 years ago in 5th grade) and it was very very light, i didnt even no wat was happening. You may feel a bit of cramps right before.
=)

If you ever have to use the bathroom at school, even if they don't want you to,you get up and walk out and get to that bathroom. They have NO RIGHT to deny you that,or anyone. If they say a thing about it,you tell them to call your mom and take it up with her.I'd bet she'd have a few choice words for them.I'd like to have seen someone tell me I couldn't go to the washroom if I needed to! They wouldn't soon have forgotten the earful they'd have gotten. Most teachers are idiots who can't cut it in the real world with adults,so they have to try and control youngsters. You get up and go if you need to.

i got mine during school when i first did, and nothing leak through. i jsut used toilet paper till i got home cause i didnt have any pads to use.

also just say u have to go to the nurse, and ur teachers will let u leave.

well wear pantyliners for the time being to help control the problem for at least a little while. your teacher should let you go to the bathroom, if he/she doesnt, just be like "its a womanly problem" and they should let you go. i wouldnt worry about it until your older because you will probly be close to when your mom started. most people are.
dont be scared. you will be able to handle it when it comes! :)

hope it helps:)
