Do you have an opinion of the HPV shot? (Gardisil)?!

Question: There is a big push for young women to get the HPV shot, have you/are you getting the injections? What is your opinion on this new drug, I have mixed feelings and looking for some diverse answers.

Personally, I think this vaccine is to new to really know all the risk and the long term side effects. I am not getting it and I am displeased to learn that some schools are considering making it a mandatory vaccination.

i think is it one of the greatest medical breakthroughs of the past 100 years.

i got 2 of them so far i go in june to get the next one and i didnt think it hurt like barely at all...it was really sore after ward but no big deal though it was all good !!i think it s great!!

I've had two of the injections already (it might've been all of them but I can't remember xD), and I've had no side effects. Once my muscle tensed up for a day or two, but that was because I didn't put enough pressure on it.
If it works, it'll be great. If it doesn't, then I've lost nothing.

I also have mixed feelings about it. I have not gotten this vaccination, althought my doctor has highly recommended it for me and has given me some reading material on it. My sister recieved the vaccination some time ago. I'm only skeptical because there is no education on the long terms affects of Gardisil since it is so new. That's really my main concern. There is no history of health problems in my family so I think I'll be fine without it.

I think its a great idea!!!

I really think that they should do more research because some side effects are scary like you can become paralyzed.

I also dont want to get it because Im not sexually active nor will i be anytime soon

I plan on getting the vaccine. It's a not a guarantee that the vaccine will last a life time. The oldest study just ended it's 6th year.
It is effective up till the 6th year, but it's like any other vaccine you need a booster every few years or so.
It only protects you from 4 strains of HPV there are hundreds more, but those 4 are the most common.

I'm all for it. I've had my first shot (the most painful shot I've ever had, but didn't flinch), but came down with a rash and some breathing issues the next day. But hey, the pros far outweigh the cons.
