Well, you're getting your period... your uterus is still shedding its tissues. You're just not seeing the bleeding because of our old friend gravity. When you're lying down, the blood has to go a bit uphill to escape through your vagina. If you aren't bleeding all that heavily (and depending on your own personal anatomy) you may not see any blood at all. Do you notice that you bleed more heavily first thing in the morning? That's the extra that accumulated overnight escaping.

its because you are laying down and not on your feet, so the flow stops.

because you are laying sideways,
for some people it lessens the bleeding,
for some people it stops completley,
it's like a bottle, if you flip it upside down it will pour but if you lay it on the side it will stop.

no
do you mean when you first start your period?

dont know but this happens to me!!
i get up in the morning then think it has stopped but then go to the toilet and the dratted thing starts agiain!!

It's most likely because your lying down. You may get a flow but not as much as you could get it during the day. Nothing to worry about.
