If I told the pharmacy I "lost my pills" would they give me more?!

Question: I'm going away for awhile and cannot get pills. I need an extra pack.

Answers: I'm going away for awhile and cannot get pills. I need an extra pack.

You can tell them straight forward that you are going away and they can send the orders to another pharmacy at the place your going to and you can just pick them up there. However, they might give you a vacation supply, but you need to go to the pharmacy and mention it. Good luck.

i don't think they would. But you could go to your doctor and ask them to send the Pharmacist a fax to give you more.

no u idiot, they'd say bring the proof that u had the pills. what a dum waist of a question

alot of times insurance companies allow a vacation supple...tell them you are going out of town, they will have no problem helping you out. Even if insurance doesnt apply, the pharmacy will fill the prescription for you.

No they will not. They are not allowed to. You must have a prescription from your doctor.

Hi,most likely not.You need a script from your doctor.

I assume you mean birth control? I really wish people would be more specific with their questions......

The insurance companies regulate the refills, so if it's not time for one - they will not pay for it. As long as it is not a controlled substance, most pharmacies will fill it - but you will have to pay full price... Just call your insurance company to see if they have a rule about this pertaining to vacation.

If not, and you don't want to pay full price - find a pharmacy when you get to your destination and have it transferred there when it's time for the refill.

OH! And if you don't HAVE a refill left on the script, you definitely have to get the Dr to call it in.....hopefully you knew at least that much though. lol

It depends on the medication, if it's a controlled medication like xanex or oxycontin, then you can forget about it, but if it's like birth control, or heart medicine, diabetes medicine, etc. something you take everyday, then there are two ways to go about getting more pills
1.) You can ask your doctor for sample packs to hold you over until you come back
2.) You can speak to someone at the pharmacy about getting a vacation supply, which may or may not be covered by your insurance, I work at Walgreens and we do this all the time so its not a problem.
Good luck!

Call your gynocologist and ask if they can give you a sample pack.

BR and Liz M are right. I am a pharmacist. As long as you have a valid prescription for the pills on file in the pharmacy for available refills, you can get it filled anywhere.

NO they will not replace your medication if it was prescribed medication. If it were over the counter medication, you would be able to purchase more. If the medication was a narcotic you would need your doctor to write a new prescription, he would not be able to call it in. The reason being that they are closely watched by the goverment for abuse.I would suggest you call your doctor, explain your problem. Most doctors would have you in for a visit before even agreeing to refill medication. This generally applies to most medications. The pharmacist would be able to help by requesting permission from your doctor. Remember, this is not for a narcotic. You would need a new script.
