The first time I got my period it was really light so I didn't think much of it. The second time I was completely unprepared for it. I was in a restaurant and I actually felt it running out of me. I went to the bathroom at least 5 times within half an hour. I had nothing to use except toilet paper. Didn't do much, but I dealt with it.

For the first couple of years my period was extremely heavy. To the point where I needed to stay home from school. Every time I moved or stood up I could feel it coming out. Now, I still use pads and it's not nearly as bad. I change about 2-3 times a day and take a few ibuprofen or tylenol to help with the back pain.

If you are at school, be sure to have some pads in your backpack and between classes or at lunch you can run to the bathroom and check. Change as many times as you need to. You can even wear a jacket or something around your waist if it makes you feel more comfortable.

You can try tampons if you want. I personally have difficulty with them but everyone is different. There isn't really much to do about the heaviness. You just need to wait it out until your period regulates.

Please, I am trying to eat breakfast which is oatmeal and tomato juice.

There's really nothing to do about it. When did you first get your period? I got mine when I was 10, I'm 16 now. And at first I'm saying the first 2 years or so my flow was constantly either light, heavy, blah blah blah. As you get older it will get lighter or follow a certain pattern. It's a little off at first.

well since you've just started off on your period its going to be really unpredictable, ive been on my period for almost two years and its only now starting to become a bit regular and heavy. When you have a really heavy period you really need to use tampons, even though you think they might hurt, they dont really.

I empathize as my wife gets it heavy as do my 2 daughters and 7 days

yeah heavy periods are normal. wear shorts underneath skirts and dresses and maybe even wear them over underwear and under jeans

Yeah i have had the same problems the last few times I have come on.
I had to have time off school last time, but thats because I wasn't well too.
I know it is awful, but i had to wear a Tampon AND a pad at the same time to keep it okay for like 3 hours, and then i would have to change again.
Do you use Tampons though?

Hope this helps sweety.

Mine have always been heavy ever since I started, but I just leave it alone and wear overnight pads. But if you want lighter periods, i heard birth control pills work

Hun, thats normal. Especially since you say this is only your 3rd one. Your body is still adjusting to having a period. Every once in a while you will have a heavy one. i do and I am 41. Just try and relax today. Take today as a "me" day and just be lazy :) Make sure you take enough pads with you to school. If you have to, check it after each class.

i started mine when i was 12 and they were HEAVY.... seriously. I used to use NIGHT Pads 24/7... they did help but then i went to my doctors when i was 14 and told him (typical i have a male doctor when i coulda used a female) and he put me on these yellow tablets called Mefanamic Acid. I had to take them 3 times a day when I was on my period and they helped loads. i'm regular now as in medium flow =)
try your gp; don't be embarrassed ;) or use Night Pads?
