Im getting my appendix taken out soon i wanted to no ...?!
Question: what it was going to be like .. if it hurts (well i no it will but how much) whats it like when you wake up after the surgery... what do you feel like .. whats it like after a few days .. how long are yu in the hospital .. how long does it take to recover .. when did you go back to school after the surgery.. im getting it done at the local childerns hospital . .. anything eles i should no would be nice

My friend had her appendix taken out, and I have been in surgery before, so I'll try to give you a hand with some questions.
1. I don't think it hurts. Well not as much as you would be in now, with the stomach pains.
2. Nothing really. Just tired when you wake up-and hungry!
3. Not sure.
4. I think about 1 week.
5. About 3 weeks.
6. My friend went back after about 3 weeks. After my surgery I think after about 2 weeks.
7. That's were I got my surgery done! lol. My friend got it done at the local genneral hospital.
Talk to your doctor about this, he/she will be able to help any concerns you may have.

My surgery was a hernia, so it was near the stomach - just thought you might like to know. =).
Well, I once had two teeth taken out under anesthetic and then I got a throat infection (couldn't eat for 4 days), and I'm assuming that it would be like that. Bad comparison, I know,
But after I woke up, I got very tired very quickly and then woke up in the middle of the night...
But I'm sure they'll give you good pain meds for it.
I had appendicitis last year and I let it go for 3 days before I went to the hospital. I had it removed laproscopically. When I came out of the anesthesia, I cried my eyes out because I was scared and I didn't know where I was. I was in the hospital for 2 days. Because it was laproscopic, I had alot of shoulder pain in the following days because the gas that they fill your stomach with to get the instruments in comes out of your right shoulder. The morphine they were putting in my IV made me VERY ill.
It took me about 3 weeks to recover fully. It was hard to lift things and walk normally for awhile. You shouldn't carry anything heavy. I went back to school in a week.

My sister had her's taken out when she was around 9 or 10 yrs old and it was due to Appendicitis , she was very sleepy after surgery and really don't remember anything about us coming to see her in the recovery room. It took her probably 5-6 days before she could get released from the hospital, cause hers was so severe, and she was out of school for about a week or so after that...my memory fails me!! But she's recovered just fine and never had a problem.......Your Doctor and nurses will keep you comfortable and pain free, I'm sure......it's ok and very normal to kinda worry before a event like this......but I'm sure that everything will be ok ;)
