I've had very bad experiences with birth control. I've only ever been on Depo Provera and boy was that shot a gift from God! Unfortunately, I bled profusely for about the first two weeks but after that, it disappeared entirely for the next 6 months (after the second shot as well). The third (and final) series I did left me with light periods that lasted on average of three days. AFTER I stopped receiving it I bled every other week for 3 months (and when I stopped bleeding I would bleed again after sex). THEN I stopped bleeding altogether for 3 months and experienced what I was told was an ovarian cyst bursting in my ovary, causing me immense pain that landed me in the emergency room.

All in all, I've left my birth control woes to the condom and refuse to inject myself or treat myself with any other form of birth control for now. (Although being married makes it easier for me to rely solely on a condom).

Now, I've never heard of thyroid illnesses having any type of involvement with excessive bleeding, but I'm also not a doctor. You will eventually stop bleeding and if you don't, rest assured that your doctor will be more adamant about finding a solution. The fact that you're doctor isn't too worried about the bleeding NOT stopping, I wouldn't be either. Relax for now, try to wait it out. And I assumed you stopped taking the pill as well? If not, I'd consider it.

Well BC pills can do that, and the shot can make you bleed for months and it does get annoying my friend had this same problem...
Get off the pill and try either another pill or some other kind of bc.
